We went for the first time ever on Monday 6th May with our 6 year old and his friend.
Slot is 2 hours and the team trusts families to leave in due time, they do not keep track of the incoming and outgoing.
Soft play structure is varied (a toddler section, a ball pit -not typical ball pit you can dive in though which is fine by me for hygiene purposes-a football area, a large soft play structure with one high slide, one swirly slide and one smaller slide with jumps. Structure is varied and fun to go through. It is also well maintained and feels safe and secure.
Toilet facilities are clean and toilets are height adapted for children.
Food was reasonably priced and well cooked. We were slightly peckish and shared: a portion of adult scampi and chips, a portion of onion rings, an ice coffee with honeycomb syrup, a hot chocolate for £17. We expected a lot worse price wise! Hopefully it'll stay reasonably priced.
Team is very friendly and accommodating.
    We'd love to come back!

    Few negative things I noted:
-Parents do not always keep young children in the designated toddler area and you find toddlers on the main structure
-Parents do not always keep socks on their children's feet
    -Kids climbing up the slides
The rules are clearly displayed. It is otherwise unsafe, unhygienic, disruptive and selfish.
-Also beware of the football area, some kids are very rough when kicking the ball. It's not a football pitch, a kid kicked a football straight in my child's face. I was recording my son and his friend playing and the force the kid put behind that kid is for a football pitch, not a soft play area. An accident for sure, three kids immediately stood still when it happened as they realised. My son was fine thankfully, one kid asked if he was ok bless him.
-A lot of parents don't basically keep track of their kids, they let them loose whilst they sit down and forget about them for two hours.
The Team is busy I'm well aware but maybe they should go around and pull parents over to be honest. If people don't clearly care about safety or hygiene, can't read signs or don't care about messages on the tannoy maybe they should be spoken to face to face.

Great place. Sounds weird but it's like a proper old time theatre. (Just me) Going down again Sat July 6th for a musical. Looking forward to it.

What a fabulous and fun place to be at. I had a great day on the 9th September 2023 in the lovely and rather unusually 32C hot sunshine for early September. Having been to other aqua parks before over the years, the Lakeside aqua park may not be the largest in the UK, but that certainly does not detract from the experience or enjoyment.

It is also nice how the aqua park is only a 10 minute walk from the nearby Chafford Hundred train station what joins on to the Lakeside shopping centres car park, should you be driving and needing a place to park.

For the facilities, they were clean and tidy and the staff were polite and friendly. Showers were also nice and warm. Only limitation on the facilities was a single toilet for what was a busy aqua park.

There are also plenty of lockers what take normal combination padlocks for one to securely store their belongings, which you can buy a combination padlock from reception if need be.

As for my own experience, I had the double 2 hour session between 14:40 and 16:40 booked and so arrived at about 14:10, giving myself plenty of time to get checked in, collect my grip socks that I bought online and change into my wetsuit. (I have my own wetsuit, but one can rent them out on the day or in advanced at the time of booking if need be.)

Once in my wetsuit and grip socks, I headed over to the safety briefing area where we got our life jackets (technically buoyancy aids) and then had our short safety briefing. Nothing usual here in the briefing, just common sense aqua park rules like don’t swim under obstacles, keep buoyancy aid on, listen to life guards, etc…

It was at our safety briefing that we were instructed to attach our silicone wrist bands (that you get when first checking in) to our buoyancy aids through the buoyancy aids straps. (Clever way of ensuring they don’t get lost in the water.)

Then it was into the water and on to the inflatables for the fun to begin. There are lots of different challenges and obstacles to choose from; whether you want to jump in from a height, slide down a massive slide, be launched into the air only to splash back down, or run along platforms trying not to slip and fall in.

My personal favourite was the Mammoth jump platform, standing at 5.5 meters (18 feet) high, which I jumped of off 7 times! (This Mammoth inflatable also has two different slides to slide of in addition to the jump platform.)

Overall I had tremendous fun on the aqua park and the two hours were over before I knew it.

I definitely recommended it to all and I will very likely be back next year. Just wish it was located a little closer to me, but beggars can’t be choosers on that one.

If you want to see my day in action and see what I got up to whilst on the aqua park, then I have a video of it on my "ElliottVeares" YouTube channel.

So to summarise and close out my review, it is a clean, tidy and well run family friendly place for all, which I highly recommend, that is bound to bring fun and thrills to all.

We went here for my son's birthday and him and his friends had the best time! We can't wait to go again! They played the Alien game where it is interactive from the start with also great 80's music playing which me and my husband loved!

Had an appointment to bring our 2 year old grandson. He loved every minute of the day. We spent 1 hour and a half there. Roger was very helpful, accomodating and friendly.

When I went to this sand park I was walking along the pathway to the sand area and saw filthy bins on the side absolutely covered with hornets and goodness knows what and the next thing I saw was one of these things crawling on my face and I was so shocked so I swatted it away and it stung me on the finger. It hurt so much. It’s been about a week and if I press my finger against something hard enough it will hurt. So please take this as a warning. ( I did manage to get the stinger out by the way)

We went to Lakeside for a weekend away and saw this place come up close by. So glad we visited. The visitor centre is closed so now toilets accessible. It was beautiful views from the top of the slope and saw lots of ducks, a great place for children.

Although my granddaughter loved it , I was disappointed with it. Was great we had it all to ourselves as very quiet, so getting photos was easy, but I expected more, it is very small and we were done in 10 minutes, so after paying £15 for the 3 of us , it was soon over. Also be warned, it makes you feel dizzy when you first go in due to sloping floors and wonky angle walls, but if like me, you suffer from balance/vertigo problems already, it will leave you feeling extremely dizzy the whole time, it was torture for me, I would not have gone if I had known before I went, as saw no warnings of this. Staff were very friendly and explained how to get the best photos. But safe to say I will never go again, still feeling light headed two days later, it has really affected my vertigo.

Scratching around for something to do one weekday I chanced upon the Thurrock Council Museum. Noting it was free and easy to get to I decided to take a look.
Now I’m all for telling a local story and championing history and heritage so I had some expectations. However these were rapidly dashed as I made my way to the Museum situated in the rather brutalist Thameside Theatre Building. Inside seemed pleasant enough with a foyer cafe, A well-stocked library and other council services. The entrance to the museum was on the second floor tucked away, adjacent to the library. A rather impressive display of an ancient fireplace from a nearby building seemed promising however turning the corner I was met with a darkened room which turned out to be the museum itself. Museum is somewhat stretching the description, the layout was dark, confusing, and full of dusty uncared-for exhibits. Most cabinets weren’t illuminated, presumably due to broken lighting. This was a self guided tour. The majority of displays were dirty, dusty and hadn’t been touched in a number of years. I know this is a free exhibition however this was a disgraceful display of local artefacts. Clearly the council spends next to nothing on its museum. There are a large number of items on displaying, perhaps too many. A simpler guided layout would be better. My recommendation is to avoid the museum it simply is quite a let down.
