Mercury budge offers slight respite
Ludhiana: The residents got a little relief from the simmering heat as the day temperature dropped slightly on Tuesday.
However, the respite is not likely to last long as the Met department has issued a yellow alert for Ludhiana and predicted heatwave for Wednesday. The weatherman has issued an orange alert for the next three days.
As per the met department, on Tuesday, the maximum (day) temperature was 42.8 degrees Celsius, 4.0 degrees above usual but 0.8 degree less than the day before.
Meanwhile, the minimum (night) temperature was recorded at 25.6 degrees Celsius, which is 1.3 degrees above usual but 1.4 degrees less than the day before. The Met department suggested that the sky will remain clear while the day and night temperature, both will witness an increase in the next six days. According to the met department website, the day temperature is expected to rise to 49 degrees by Monday. tnn
