The Lexington Hotel, Autograph Collection garners applause for its prime location, which guests love for its closeness to attractions and transportation. While the Jazz Age ambiance adds a touch of sophistication, some visitors find parts of the hotel dated and in need of a refresh. The rooms, often described as compact, have drawn criticism for maintenance and cleanliness issues. Although the service gets mixed reviews, many acknowledge the staff's friendliness. However, unexpected fees have left several guests questioning the value of their stay.

I stayed at the Lexington New York in February, 2020. It took me about 1 hour on Lyft from Newark Airport to the hotel, which I thought is pretty normal.
The hotel does shows its age but with some urban charm. It was inexpensive, considering the based rate was 159 for that day. With a 25-dollar destination charge and various taxes, it came up a little over 200 for the night. The hotel did provide me a $20 drink voucher and a voucher for the breakfast the next morning. The breakfast was in the "lounge" which was a bar in the evening on the first floor.
The gym on the third floor was nice and clean with adequate equipment. As a platinum member, I was upgraded to a corner room with a king size bed. The room is kind of typical NYC size, not big, clean with simple modern decor, the bathroom is also on the smaller end but functioning well except for the toilet which I found it too close to the wall and toilet paper holder was too close to body while sitting on it. Besides that I was quite happy with my stay. The staff members were friendly and helpful as I once locked myself out and they gave me another card key in no time.
The breakfast was nice for me to get the day started, it is a typical American style breakfast but nicely presented.

I was in town to visit my mother, who was quite ill (she passed away the following week) so I was looking for a hotel in a good location for a reasonable rate (I knew I wouldn't be spending much time in the hotel). Check in was very good; the front desk person offered me a mini fridge since I'd be staying a while. That was very nice. Unfortunately they delivered the fridge at almost 11:00 at night when I was in bed. I thought I had reserved the standard room but the desk clerk told me I was in a larger room. However, looking at the photos on the website, I think I was in a standard room. By normal standards it was small but by NYC standards it was fine. The bed was fairly comfortable and there was a large desk. The bathroom was small but usable. The toilet was an auto flush toilet but they had disabled auto flush and you had to push the button to flush it; unfortunately it was hard to reach the button and I had trouble getting it to flush all the way. The tub is narrow and has a high side you have to step over to take a shower. There is limited storage space in the bathroom but it's fine for one person. The hotel decor is interesting and they've tried to give it a trendy look. The lobby was crowded every morning with people sitting around and frequently busy in the evening with people having a drink. My husband joined me for the later half of the stay and had breakfast one morning. It was your typical buffet breakfast at NYC prices. You are better off going out to one of the nearby breakfast choices with better food for a fraction of the price. There is also a Starbucks adjacent to the lobby. The hotel is within walking distance of Grand Central Station, the subway, and buses, so it's easy to get around. I had to extend my stay several times and the desk staff was very accommodating about this. They also had free bottled water at the desk that you could take at any time, as well as coffee and tea in the lobby. My main complaint is the $25 destination fee they charge daily (you also pay tax on this fee). The fee gets you bar credits and laundry credits, but because I was there visiting my mother and spending many hours with her, I did not get to use my bar credits or do laundry. You have no choice (it's like a resort fee). I did agree to the fee when I made the reservation so I can't complain too much; even with the fee the hotel was a reasonable rate, but I hate when I am charged for something I don't get anything for. Over 9 nights the fee and tax added up to over $225. The location of this hotel and reasonable rate make it a good choice if you need to be in this part of town and need access to public transit. The staff was friendly and accommodating and the room was quiet even if they lobby was busy.

We had to find a place to stay during our apartment renovation for 4-6 weeks-a place where we could both work and live life with as little disruption as possible. I searched many different options and even visited several hotels prior to selecting the Lexington.

We could not be happier with our choice, after our first day!

Abbey, one of the sales folks, did all she could to find us a great room even though the hotel was fully booked by the US Open team during the same time we are staying.

She made herself available via phone and email before our stay, showed me several room options and was genuinely helpful and concerned that we would be comfortable here.

Allan, the hotel manager, personally showed me the room they saved prior to checking in to make sure it would work for us temporarily until a larger room opened up. Courtney in housekeeping was amazing-he brought us up a fridge and other things we needed and offered to help in any way he could. A very sweet man!

At every turn, folks have been lovely, helpful and dedicated. They all seem to love this hotel, beautiful and historic, and it shows in the care they take of their guests.

As lifelong NYers, we know that hotels here are expensive, rooms are tiny and good hotel experiences are hard to come by, but the Lexington will be a wonderful home away from home for us. Can’t wait to experience one of the suites, but in the meantime, we are enjoying the amenities such as a poshy breakfast, daily passes to Crunch and massive common areas to work or just hang out.

One of the front desk staff even filled me in on the neighborhood pubs and dive bars for us to explore!

This is a perfect place for visitors if you are interested in an elegant, old world atmosphere with all the modern conveniences.

We arrived at 8pm and did not get into our room until after 10:30pm. We were compensated in the form of free breakfast vouchers and a few bar vouchers. The buffet breakfast was so poor that we only used it twice, even though it was free.

Our "deluxe" room was old and tired, the bed uncomfortable and the soundproofing with the neighbouring room non-existent. It was an unpleasant place to be. Given the problems we had getting into the room in the first place we didn't bother complaining as we had been told that alternative rooms on other floors were "exactly the same". All of this was disappointing, really putting a dampener on the experience of the trip. What made it worse was the poor level of housekeeping: every evening I got a drink from the bar and brought it up to the room, at the end of our stay there were 5 glasses still in the room. My electric toothbrush stands up on the shelf above the basin and has a nasty habit of leaving a ring on the shelf which is, luckily, easily wiped away. When we left the hotel there were a whole cluster of rings showing where I had stood my toothbrush every morning and evening.

Let’s see, where do I begin?: I received a nice upgrade when I checked in last week. 2804 was nice but it was cold. I ran the heat and ran some errands only to find that the heat was not working. They sent a maintenance guy up in around 11 PM I learned that the heat was not working. I called downstairs letting the phone ring more than 30 times at which point I had to contact the hotel through my app and my text message. They finally sent someone to give me a new room but never offered to help me move my things or to even apologize. When I went downstairs around midnight, I saw 2 guests who were waiting for someone at the front desk. This makes sense given that no one picked up my call earlier. (incidentally, one of the girls said that he did not have a shower curtain in his room!)

When the clerk finally showed up and I finally got to speak with him, I told him I wanted the general manager to contact me as the service was unacceptable and that it was unacceptable for calls to ring without any acknowledgment. He told me that he was with other guests. I said based on the fact that we’ve been waiting for someone to show up at the desk I had some doubts as to the validity of that account but moreover I wondered why he couldn’t have picked up the phone to simply say can I place you on hold or I’ll be with you in a second. I still have yet to hear from the general manager. I heard from another guess that they too had trouble reaching someone at the front desk.

Under the arrangement, they were supposed to provide dry cleaning and yet despite leaving it in my room 2802 with instructions, no one ever did that.

The hotel is in a good location but given the difficulties in trying to get anyone to attend to customer service I would not recommend staying there.

I've stayed at the Lexington on my last two visits to NYC and couldn't be more pleased. First and foremost, the location is fabulous; walking distance to Grand Central and many subway station, it seems I can get anywhere I need to go within 30 minutes from this hotel.
The staff is very friendly and professional. Check-in and check-out have gone very smoothly for both of my stays. The doormen and bellmen are helpful and cheerful, the housekeeping staff greets you when you encounter them in the hallways, and the staff in the restaurant area do a great job, even when they're obviously busy!!
Speaking of the restaurant area, I think the concept at the Lexington is perfect. There are so many amazing restaurant options in NYC, I don't expect my hotel to provide a fine dining option. What the Lexington does offer is a great place to get a very solid breakfast if you prefer the convenience of dining in your hotel and in the evening, the same space doubles as a perfect cocktail lounge. The nights I've been there, the bar area appears very popular and it's a very casual and inviting atmosphere.
I really feel very comfortable in this hotel. It's large enough to be able to offer some nice amenities (particularly food and beverage) but not so large that it seems impersonal or overly corporate. It's my new favorite NYC hotel.

Our reservation confirmation stated in bold characters that "The unconventional awaits" and indeed, this was true both on the positive and negative side. We arrived at 7:30 pm only to hear our rooms were not ready yet - what? at 7:30pm? So we went for dinner and thankfully by 9pm we got our rooms. Which turned out to be nice (25th floor) and relatively quiet by NY standards despite being on the street side. Actually the plumbing, heating and neighboring room noises were louder than the street noise. Amenities were also unconventional: depending on the day and the room (we had 3) towels, bathrobes, bedspreads and other amenities would appear or disappear. You never quite knew what would be available when you returned to your room. The lobby was packed at all times, and most evenings you could enjoy live jazz and a free glass of wine which was great. Upon checkout the bellman would only store our luggage for $3 a piece, unless I could magically remember my Bonvoy membership number. My room number would not do, nor would my name - and of course all this was delivered with a vintage New York smartass attitude. So yes, the unconventional awaits for sure...

Half staff was is a bad mood. We expect people more friendly. They lobby was an awful scene: a lot of people eating pizza delivered in the sofas, ... a mass. The localization is really good. There is a Starbucks Coffeshop right in an exit of the hotel. The bathroom of the room is provided with a bathtub very dangerous, that slides. It should have a rubber mat. The room is not provided with a coffe machine, that would be nice. The internet is good. And it’s noise. The windows of the room are not anti-noise miter. The ear plugs aren’t enough to avoid the excessive noise that comes from the window. After the checkout, It’s possible to use restwooms in the second floor requesting a key (card) in the reception. There is complimentary beverage in the reception. And it’s possible to leave the luggage after checkout paying usd 3,00 per bag or suitcase. .

I just completed a weekend stay at The Lexington and had a terrific experience. From check-in to check-out, the staff were courteous and helpful. My Titanium Elite status was recognized at check-in, leading to a room upgrade as well as a complimentary breakfast buffet each morning and drink vouchers. The hotel is located in an ideal location, within easy walking distance to a variety of bars, cafes, restaurants, and shops, and public transportation options (Grand Central Terminal is a few blocks away). Highly recommended!

The property and staff were excellent. The doorman Derrick was exceptional. The hot cider was a special touch. Loved the gym. The hotel is very clean and that's appreciated. We loved the central location which was near a great market across the street. Also around the block is a restaurant Toscana 49(49th Street between 3rd Ave and Lexington) which had very reasonable dinner prices for the quality and location.
