Man City captain Walker: I was very close to leaving

Manchester City captain Kyle Walker admits he was close to leaving last summer.

The 34 year-old has just led City to a fourth consecutive Premier League triumph.

However, Walker was close to leaving last year for Bayern Munich.

He told Sky Sports: "I feel young. I don't know if that's a good thing or a bad thing.

"I feel good, I feel like I still have my rhythm. I come to train every day with a great desire to learn. I think that, when this fails, we understand that the time has come to pack my bags. But this group of guys will help you. It keeps you on your toes and makes you want to improve every day."

The England international continued: "I don't feel that way. I love these guys. I am indebted to them every day. I came close to leaving Manchester City. I said it publicly in different circumstances, but with this group of guys, with the manager... when we talked and sat down I didn't want the journey to end.

"And since 2017 I have been part of this club and its foundation field to date, I couldn't wait to go and train and this is the most important thing."
