Biting social commentary and Sarah Gadon's hypnotic performance make Alias Grace a worthy addition to the Margaret Atwood adaptation catalog.

Rachel Kincaid Autostraddle In the show's best moments, it's about something darker and more complicated; about how there's things we'll do for the sake of ourselves and things we'll do for the sake of those we love, but when both are on the table, dangerous doors swing open. Mar 4, 2021 Full Review Lara Zarum Village Voice That's the ultimate appeal of Alias Grace: the subdued, no-shit narrative approach to Grace's story, and Gadon's performance of quiet strength. Maria A Disappointingly unrealistic. Very little organic character development, but rather a lot of explaining of things through today's lens. Waste of time. Rated 0.5 out of 5 stars 09/28/23 Full Review Haydn C I LOVED every moment of this series! I'm a HUGE fan of both Mary Harron and Sarah Polley, They are both geniuses! Rated 5 out of 5 stars 09/12/23 Full Review Lukas-Jeremie K The 1843 setting of Alias Grace, which is based on Margaret Atwood's book of the same name, relates the story of a horrifying double homicide. The affluent Thomas Kinnear, who has a tight bond with his servant Nancy Montgomery, is at the core of the action. The two's hidden pleasure, however, will soon come to an abrupt end when they are killed by superiors Grace Marks and James McDermott. "Alias Grace" is a bit lengthy here and there, but overall really interesting. The actors are good and until the end one can only guess what is actually the case.
