Ishq released on 28 November 1997, and grossed over ₹500 million worldwide, becoming the third-highest grossing film of 1997. It earned Amrapurkar a Best Villain nomination at the 43rd Filmfare Awards. The film was remade in Kannada as Snehana Preethina.
