No, you can not.
Pants are notoriously off with measurements. Skirts too, in the waist.
I only buy if I know the brand already and how they fit me.

The measurements for everything are notoriously off. I once bought a size 6 US dress that said it had a 27 inch chest measurement. I always check the manufacturer website for actual measurements. I’m not quite sure how they can consistently measure so badly.
Look up the brand’s size chart
I sometimes try to find the exact item on eBay where there might be more reliable measurements listed. But if you don't mind the inconvenience, the return should be free if it shows up and doesn't match the listing.
All I want for Christmas is Poshmark to figure out a reliable flat lay measuring system for their warehouse. Being off by an inch is one thing but it's frequently 2+ inches. Bust measurements are even more wild.
So I’ve spent ridiculous amounts of money on thredup throughout the years. Lots of things with wrong measurements. If you’re familiar with the brand, the size listed (28) is generally what it says on the tag. I’d believe that before believe their measurements. If you arent familiar with the brand it gets more iffy, because some brands have a size 28 as ‘33in’ and some have a size 28 as ‘26in’ or whatever. I’d check the brand (google the brand, type of Jean, size chart. Like BDG bootcut size chart.)
Absolutely not. They just make up sizing measurements. It’s like they have Stevie Wonder sizing the clothes. Actually, he could probably do a better job lol. I go to the website that sells that brand and look at their sizing charts.
