I feel very drawn to Nils Lofgren, and over the years, I've bought a lot of his albums.
After you've enjoyed his early days with Grin along with his great debut solo album and the Back It Up live album, this is another fine stopping point.
A strong set of songs combine with plenty of guitar to create a career highlight.
The problem with Nils Lofgren is that many of his albums contain some good to great songs, but they are often inconsistent. I enjoy this one all the way through.

Despite great execution by Nils this album fails to totally overwhelm. The fault lies somewhat with the material. A longtime listener to Nils may start to hear a repeating formula as most of the songs sound so similar to his earlier work, though it's not totally fatal especially if this is all you have. The highlights for me are the guitar lead that wraps up Valentine, the total build up of "Sticks and Stones" and the sentimental and beautifully written "Girl in Motion". To his credit his guitar playing is very aggressive in many places and that can carry the day for many listeners.

Truly great album by the E Street Band guitarist featuring Ringo Starr in drums and Bruce Springsteen in vocals. Bruce's appearance doesn't make this record any better - "Valentine" is maybe the worst songs in this album. "Sticks And Stones" will break your bones!
