The area
Neighborhood: San Polo
The Rialto Bridge is the most famous sight along the Grand Canal in San Polo, smallest of Venice's six sestieri (districts) and by far the busiest neighborhood. Morning Venetians arrive to peruse the markets for fish, fruit and vegetables, while shops display goods from cheese to wine to desserts. San Silvestro and Rialto Market vaporetto (water taxi) stops add to the steady stream of foot traffic. San Polo is defined by churches including Basilica dei Frari, one of the most important churches sought by art lovers.

We had a big business dinner here on a night when there was no breeze, about 30C, and no airconditioning , we were dehydrating quicker than wine could replenish our systems !
This is a lovely, historic building with outstanding architecture, on a cooler night i am sure i would have enjoyed it more.

Difficult to stand out amongst all the splendor and beauty to be found on the banks of the Canal Grande, but this magnificent palace simply stands out: a monument of extreme elegance and time and time again a joy to look at, with its fine gothic ornaments and striking contrast between the water and the colour rose of its facade.

My Husband and I attended the Mascheranda ball during carnival. Beautiful palace, we arrived via taxi (€70) from our hotel. The welcome was phenomenal, the food average, but we didn't attend the ball for the food. Open bar through the evening. If you pay to sit in the main floor you'll be able to view the singers/musicians during dinner. Otherwise you'll need to get out your seat to watch the performances. Photographers will walk to your table, same with other entertainment. There's 10 people per table, which gave us the opportunity to meet other couples from around the world. We had a great time, definitely recommend it, very expensive but worth the experience!

Horrible is the way to describe this. Nothing like what they publish about the ball. If you want to get a 50Euro meal, with one bottle of red wine for a table of 10 in the main grand ball room for 800Euro, Medicare meal which was not our choice of Meat, but a flopped up piece of not deboned or de slimed fish; then go. The dinner did not start at 8:30, but just pat 10pm, we waited standing in the over crowded over sold ball room shoulder to shoulder; half glass of a mediocre Prosecco (10 Euro a bottle max). Dinner salad with a piece of fish, then the dinner; not beef which what we had ordered, but a messy floppy pieces of first with thick skin and bone over mashed potatoes. We had two bottles of white wine and one bottle of red wind for our table to 10 ! Mind you this is Italy and it is supposed to Michelin dinner. Most of the table drank red, and it ran out quickly. No one came to check on our table, so after several attempts I flagged one of the young (green) waiters and asked for red wine; to which she responded they didn't have any. this was the worst ever experience of what was supposed to be upscale ball. At 800 Euros for each of us, it was a sham and a horrible experience. The entertainment was run of the mill midcourse performance that if you wanted to see; you had to stand up and walk to the center of the room. Unfortunately this ball is marketed to Americans who fall for the ads and videos. the real experience is nothing like it. Don't go to Ballo Tiepolo at Palazzo Pisani Moretta .

Went as part of a 'package' with Great Rail Journeys but absolutely amazing. Water taxi to the palace, a hairy walk up the gangplank into the vestibule. A warm welcome then up to the restaurant through wonderful baroque architecture.
We ate in a lovely room with huge candelabra etc. Starters of seafood risotto (having had appetisers in the lounge area with views from the balconies over the Grand Canal) followed by sea bass and beans then a rich tiramisu to follow. 17 of us could sit round one huge circular table.
At the end of the meal back down the gangplank for an exhilarating water taxi ride back to our coach.
One word of warning. Only one toilet!

There are gems everywhere in Venice, but none hold a spark to this most delicate, the finest confetti of gothic palaces that line the Sumo of canals. This pile of beauty can be instantly picked out for its boldness and pleasurable lines. The interior is baroque which includes a staircase that Disney would have envied with double flight of steps and rich decoration. Its no wonder it is the outstanding epicentre of the masked ball season.

We adored our hotel from start to finish, the staff were genuine friendly and remembered our preferences in the bar days after our first order. All the staff were so lovely to talk to. The decor was unbelievable and our room was so comfortable and a pleasure to pass a few hours in on a wet day in Venice. Location is fantastic... the only bad thing I have to say is that with all the excellent reviews I’m worried it will be booked out the next time we visit Venice! A total gem !

This palace built in the late 1400’s and the current design from the 1700’s in a Venetian Gothic. The ground floor has 2 ogival style entry portals and the first floor is notable for the hexaphore ogival and balcony and to either side are two windows in the ogive style. On the 2nd floor is another hexaphore with balustrade again with two ogive style windows flanking each side. Above each hexaphore are quatrefoils. Overall striking building in the rose color. We viewed this building only from the Grand Canal. .

A truly spectacular evening! Beautiful pasta with caviar, deer tartare, and veggie canapés.... with tons of champagne! Private dinner in an absolutely beautiful room, with food catered by chef Ricardo De Pra, who catered for George Clooneys wedding. Perfect setting for a priceless evening, and amazing entertainment!

This is one of the most beautiful palaces in Venice, and it's in a great location on the Grand Canal.
