Monaco Film Premiére ‘QUINTESSENTIALLY IRISH’
A love letter to everything Irish, now SOLD OUT
Monaco’s red carpet to roll out for the Film Première of Quintessentially Irish. The film documentary features H.S.H. Prince Albert II of Monaco, among other well-known personalities including Bob Geldof, Jeremy Irons and Pierce Brosnan. To introduce the film at the exclusive event in Monaco will be award-winning director Frank Mannion, who will also make an appearance at the Cannes Film Festival. The Irish man from Carlow, based in London, is no stranger to the Riviera having picked up awards at Cannes in the past. On Tuesday, May 14 at 18:00 (welcome reception 17:30) at the conference hall of the Stelios Philanthropic Foundation on Port Hercules: ground floor, Ruscino Building, 14 Quai Antoine 1er, Monaco. With the generous support of Sir Stelios Haji-Ioannou, who is kindly hosting the evening. The trustees of the Princess Grace Irish Library are very grateful for this sponsorship.

Psyché – Show
The students of the Rainier III Academy Children’s Choir will perform a wonderful musical tale inspired by Greek mythology, a thoughtful musing on how true love requires us to change completely. La Danseuse – Theatre
Noé, a young dancer, feels out of step with the world. But he is passionate about his art, and wants more than anything to succeed and make his mark. He compares himself to the men of his generation and the father figures around him as he was growing up. The day he meets Adèle is a sliding doors moment. He feels a new excitement welling up inside him. Their bodies yearn for one another. They fall in love. Until Noé becomes lost under the weight of his responsibilities and disillusion. Their relationship takes a toxic turn, one in which authority takes the place of empathy. Noé, torn between his quest for identity and his love, loses control.

Silence on tourne – Theatre
A film crew takes over a theater to shoot a film scene. Today they are filming the sequence of the deceived husband who interrupts a performance to kill his wife’s lover. Gad Elmaleh – Lui-Même – Show
Gad Elmaleh is a Moroccan-Canadian stand-up comedian and actor. Best known in the French-speaking world, he has notably achieved fame in France, Morocco, and the United States. He has starred in several feature films, including Coco, Priceless, La Doublure and Midnight in Paris. His latest show Lui-Même will be presented on Friday, May 17. Children’s Day – Kodomo-no-hi
Children can discover a range of fun activities, including calligraphy, the traditional tea ceremony, try on a kimono, and take part in traditional Japanese games. Japanese food and drink will also be available to buy, the “Ensemble Iris” will be performing music from Japan, and there will be an Oshukai (Kobudo) demonstration. Free Admission. Pasolini in Chiaroscuro – Exhibition
The new exhibition at the Villa Sauber honours Pier Paolo Pasolini, perhaps the last European intellectual to have gained worldwide renown. He is considered one of the defining public intellectuals in 20th-century Italian history, influential both as an artist and a political figure. A half-century on from his death, his influence can still be felt across the different fields in which he worked: he is read, commented on, adapted, and inspires contemporary creative artists. While he preferred to describe himself as a writer, it was his films that brought him to the public’s attention. The exhibition looks at his inspirations and his legacy. Lascaux à Monaco – Exposition
Original objects from the Lascaux cave exhibited on loan from the National Museum of Prehistory (Les Eyzies, Dordogne) and the Institute of Human Paleontology (Paris) and also hyper-realistic reconstructions of 5 Cro-Magnons by Elisabeth Daynes, a 1/10 scale model of the Lascaux cave with prehistoric paintings and lighting, and interactive tables and low-tech manipulatives. An original scenography organized around facsimiles and an immersive experience in Virtual Reality thanks to the #SPL LASCAUX, exclusively thanks to the Museum Partners. The Prince and the Mediterranean – Exhibition
As part of commemorations marking the centenary of Prince Rainier III (1923-2023), the Oceanographic Museum presents its new permanent exhibition, “The Prince and the Mediterranean”. Visitors to the exhibition, the Oceanographic Institute’s tribute to the unshakeable connection between Princer Rainier III and the ocean, and the Mediterranean Sea in particular, will step aboard his ship, Deo Juvante II. Guided by the voice of H.S.H. Princess Stéphanie, they will navigate through four fascinating spaces, each exploring a different facet of the Prince and his passion for all things aquatic. Discover an immersive and interactive experience! Take on the role of a roving reporter and set off on a mission to explore the Polar regions! This new exhibition includes five thematic areas spread over two levels. Learn about the Poles and their wildlife, and the men and women who populate and explore them. Fascinating objects and documents, digital content and immersive devices come together to create a 360° experience. The great voyage can begin! The Early Days of Télé Monte-Carlo, 1954-1974 – Exhibition
The Cabinet of Curiosities – “The Early Days of Télé Monte-Carlo, 1954-1974” – An exhibition looking at the first 20 years of Monaco’s TV channel launched in 1954. A selection of archives and objects will take you back in time, to the very earliest days of colour television. Organised by the Audiovisual Institute of Monaco, the exhibition features items entrusted by Télé Monte-Carlo for safekeeping, documents from partner institutions, and materials kindly loaned by private individuals.
