What is rnb and is this genre same as Hiphop?

What is rnb exactly?? I really like singers who belong to this genre. Like Frank Ocean, Daniel Caesar, Giveon and the weeknd. I want to know about this genre, so I can understand them even more. Also I really love a song called LOVE. by kendric lamer. And what genre is this?? If it's not rnb, I also want to know about the difference between rnb and Hiphop like I said on title.

Main difference is that hip hop usually contains rapping. R&B usually contains singing.

Sometimes they combine for songs like “You’re All I Need” by Method Man & Mary J Blige or “Ready or Not” by Lauryn Hill

Production wise, Hip Hop tends to incorporate more drums, bass, and leans toward a more rhythmic approach. Hip Hop comes from party music like disco & funk, but it also blends elements of jazz and rock in ways that no other genre does.

R&B tends to incorporate more instruments like Pianos, saxophones, synths and guitar. It usually has a more harmonic and melodic approach. R&B comes from blues, gospel, & soul music.

The song “LOVE.” by Kendrick Lamar is an Hip Hop song with elements of pop and alternative rnb. If you want to hear more songs like that, you can listen to these songs:

Telegraph Ave. By Childish Gambino

Power Trip by J. Cole

Ms. Jackson or Roses by Outkast

The Rain (Supa Dupa Fly) or Hot Boyz by Missy Elliott

The artists you listed are all Alternative R&B artists that lean into pop (Frank Ocean & The Weeknd) & soul (Daniel Caesar). This is a relatively newer sound in the genre. Only really becoming popular in the early 2010s because of Frank and the Weeknd

If you’d like more artists like them then you can listen to these artists and their songs:

Don’t Touch My Hair by Solange

Let It Go by Kelela

20 Something by SZA

Rehab or Forever Yours by Brent Faiyaz

Ghost Ride by BLK ODYSSY

Spirit 2.0 by Sampha.

Thanks for well detailed answer. I didn't all my fav are called alternative Rnb. And btw, I also like Joli. Is he an alternative rnb artist as well?

R n B stands for Rythm and Blues. It is not the same as Hiphop but more likely is a form R&B

Music genres evolve from, fuse/incorporate and blur the lines between each other all the time.

RnB stands for Rhythm and Blues. "RnB" is much older than Hip-hop and itself has had a massive umbrella of diverse music and sounds underneath it and it's influences even wider.

They both stem from Black American music and culture (with 'race records' being an early term for much black music eventually being dubbed RnB).

Hip-hop was a fusion of BA & Carribean cultures that also became diverse and its own umbrella.
