Guardians of the Galaxy star Chris Pratt reveals that there's a 100% chance of him reprising his iconic role as Starlord/Peter Quill in the Marvel Cinematic Universe and that he's also guaranteed a role in James Gunn's rebooted DCU.

With Guardians writer-director James Gunn now playing a significant role at DC Studios, speculation has arisen about Pratt possibly venturing into this new franchise. During an interview with ComicBook.com promoting The Garfield Movie, Pratt suggested that either possibility is plausible, expressing openness to appearing in both superhero realms.

James Gunn has hinted that several members of the Guardians of the Galaxy cast could transition to new superhero or villain roles in the rebooted DC Universe, although no casting decisions have been finalized yet. One prevalent fan theory revolves around Pratt potentially playing Booster Gold, who is slated to headline his own exclusive Max series. In a Rolling Stone interview from 2023, Pratt addressed this notion, indicating his openness to the idea under suitable circumstances. Pratt stated, "If James believes I'm the right fit, then naturally, I'd have to contemplate it."

Speaking to Variety, Pom Klementieff, who portrays Mantis in Guardians of the Galaxy, confirmed discussions with James Gunn regarding potential roles within DC's burgeoning franchise. Klementieff stated, "I won't spill the beans just yet, but conversations have taken place, and we're laying out some plans. However, nothing has been set in stone, There's a particular character in mind, but I'm sworn to secrecy. I was acquainted with the character, and I found them incredibly intriguing."

Chris Pratt's next film is The Garfield Movie, directed by Mark Dindal (The Emperor's New Groove) and scripted by Paul A. Kaplan & Mark Torgove (Raising Hope) alongside David Reynolds (Finding Nemo). In addition to Chris Pratt as the eponymous talking cat, The Garfield Movie features a star-studded voice cast that includes Samuel L. Jackson, Hannah Waddingham, Ving Rhames, Nicholas Hoult, Cecily Strong, Harvey Guillén, Brett Goldstein and Bowen Yang.

The Garfield Movie is scheduled for theatrical release in the United States on May 24, 2024.
