      What to Know

      Critics Consensus

Spike Lee's energetic and clever bank-heist thriller is a smart genre film that is not only rewarding on its own terms, but manages to subvert its pulpy trappings with wit and skill.

Apr 29, 2008 Full Review David Ansen Newsweek As unexpected as some of its plot twists is the fact that this unapologetic genre movie was directed by Spike Lee, who has never sold himself as Mr. Entertainment. But here it is, a Spike Lee joint that's downright fun. Nov 1, 2007 Full Review Cory Woodroof For the Win (USA Today) Inside Man is an electric, pulpy crime thriller that only Lee could make, and Washington just gets to operate in such a thrilling space as he tries to save the day amid quite a tense situation. Audience Member Wow! This was greatest heist movie I have ever seen about the bank robbers and detectives investigation on the bank. Rated 5 out of 5 stars 05/21/24 Full Review Nashville I Inside Man's one of the best suspense-mysteries of the last 30 years, and it doesn't the respect it deserves. It's NOT a heist film. It's packaged like a heist film, but trust me there's a lot going on. You'll be pleasantly surprised by how many plot twists there are. It's perfectly cast too- everyone's in the perfect role/attitude they should be in. Very re-watchable, exceptionally well-written and acted, and expertly directed. Rated 4.5 out of 5 stars 05/15/24 Full Review Barry J Anything with Denzel in it's good. But this movie has several big-time actors. As well as a pretty good story. Not a unforgettable movie. But I enjoyed it. Rated 3 out of 5 stars 04/14/24 Full Review Mate P Inside Man is a good movie. The characters are interesting, but we've seen so many like them except for the antagonist. He was unique, I liked him the most. The plot twist drove the movie, but without it the movie would be week. The first half of the movie was boring to me, but that's only because it was going exactly like Money Heist, but of course this was before that, so it's not the movie's fault. The music felt out of place, that was the part of the movie, which I didn't like. Besides that I also didn't like the end. It didn't feel like an ending, it would have been more satisfying if we were shown what happened to the other characters. Solid movie, the plot twist makes it 8. Rated 4 out of 5 stars 04/10/24 Full Review Mortal Medium to bad directing, normal acting , stupid mixed shots and complex story line. I could forgive everything if : 1)There was a better character development. 2)The ending made any god damn sense. Rated 2 out of 5 stars 04/09/24 Full Review Tony S Denzel Washington and Jodie foster deliver good performances. The movie does a good job of conveying tension as the hostage story develops. Anyone who has had good NYC pizza can tell that the pizza in the movie is great stuff. The kid from Brooklyn talks like a kid from Brooklyn. good acting and a clever plot makes for an enjoyable film.
