Schuylkill County - Guilty Pleas

Schuylkill County Judge Christopher Hobbs last week accepted guilty pleas from five people charged by local police.

Uzair Jasim Wycel Williams, 24, of Tamaqua, was charged by borough Police Officer Karl L. Harig with unsworn falsification to authorities; false identification to a law enforcement officer; driving while her operating privileges were suspended or revoked; and obedience to traffic-control devices on May 22, 2020.

Judge Christopher Hobbs accepted her guilty pleas to false identification and driving under suspension.

He sentenced her to serve 12 months on probation; pay court costs; and to pay a $50 a month supervision fee on the falsification charge.

On the driving under suspension charge, Hobbs sentenced Williams to pay a $400 fine, and a total of $77 in fees.

The remaining charges were dropped.

Alisen Marie Vanger, 33, of Tamaqua, was charged by borough Police Officer Andrew J. Seip with possession of a controlled substance and disorderly conduct on June 23, 2022.

Judge Hobbs accepted her guilty plea to possession charge, and sentenced her to serve 3 to 23 months in jail, with credit for time served from June 24, 2022 to June 27, 2022 and from Jan. 27, 2023 to March 23, 2023.

He also ordered her to undergo a drug and alcohol evaluation; to submit a DNA sample and pay the $250 fee; to pay a $50 a month supervision fee; and to pay a total of $150 in fees.

Crystal Lipovsky, 43, of Barnesville, was charged by Coaldale Police Officer Ryan H. Oldt with two counts of possession of a controlled substance and one count of possession of drug paraphernalia, and tampering with evidence on March 16, 2019.

Judge Hobbs accepted her guilty plea to the paraphernalia charge, and sentenced her to serve 12 months on probation; to pay court costs; pay $302 restitution to the Bethlehem Crime Lab; to pay a $50 a month supervision fee; pay $100 in other fees; to undergo a drug and alcohol evaluation.

The remaining charges were dropped.

Michael Steven Schmeltzle, 22, no address given, was charged by Coaldale Police Officer Christopher J. Cordes with theft by unlawful taking; criminal trespass - entering a structure; and burglary on July 16, 2022.

Judge Hobbs accepted his guilty plea to the theft charge, and sentenced him to serve 24 months on probation; to pay court costs; to pay a $50 a month supervision fee; pay $150 in other fees; and to submit a DNA sample and pay the $250 fee.

Shawn Lorraine Bush, 51, of Tamaqua, was charged by borough Police Officer Douglas L. Springer Jr. with possession of a controlled substance and one count of possession of drug paraphernalia on Oct. 2, 2022.

Judge Hobbs accepted her guilty plea to both charges.

He sentenced Bush to serve 12 months on probation; to pay court costs; to pay a $50 a month supervision fee; pay $150 in other fees.
