CAREER RECORD: 28-35-1 regular season, 0-1 playoffs.

BIGGEST COACHING ACCOMPLISHMENTS: Winning NFC East with Washington in 2015; winning two Arena Football League titles with Orlando.

BIGGEST ATHLETIC ACCOMPLISHMENTS: Throwing for 7,024 yards in college at Louisville; winning four Arena League titles and 1992 league MVP award.

TOUGHEST LOSS: Washington only needed to beat a New York Giants team with nothing to play for in the 2016 regular-season finale to make the playoffs, but the Redskins lost 19-10.

DELICATE DECISION: His first major move as coach of the Redskins was to elevate backup quarterback Kirk Cousins to the starting role ahead of Robert Griffin III, who was the NFL Offensive Rookie of the Year after being the No. 2 overall draft choice in 2012. Washington gave up three first-round picks and one second-rounder to acquire the pick it used for Griffin, the same year Cousins was taken in the fourth round. Cousins led the team to an NFC East title in 2015.
