The Clown Motel in Tonopah, Nevada, has become a mecca for horror enthusiasts, boasting an eerie collection of over 2,000 clown figurines. Situated next to the Old Tonopah Cemetery, a Wild West-style burial ground with unsettling tombstones and infant graves, the motel offers a truly spine-chilling experience.

Guests have reported paranormal activity in certain rooms, with rooms 108, 109, 210, 215, and 217 being hotspots for hauntings. Owner Hame Anand has also experienced the supernatural presence, stating, "This was how I knew that they were telling me, 'we are here, but don't worry about that'." Despite the spooky atmosphere, Hame doesn't find his clown collection scary, saying, "I don't see why people say 'creepy'.... The clown is the laughing character. It makes you laugh."

The motel features 31 rooms for rent, including themed rooms such as an IT room, an Exorcist room, and a Halloween room. Each room is equipped with a TV, fridge, and microwave, and both smoking and non-smoking options are available. To reach the Clown Motel, visitors must drive through a few hours of pure desert and past the Area 52 nuclear testing site, making it the last stop-off before another vast stretch of unadulterated Nevada desert.

Hame Anand, the fearless owner of the Clown Motel, has turned his passion for collecting clown memorabilia into a full-blown attraction. Initially spooked by the paranormal activity, Hame had an epiphany, saying, "But one day I thought, 'why did I come here?' There must be some divine power. They want me here to run this motel. So probably, they are not going to mess with me."

The Clown Motel's popularity has led to not one, but three film adaptations. The first film, "Clown Motel," was released direct-to-video in 2019 and follows two groups, ghost hunters and a bachelorette party, as they unleash angry and violent clown spirits. A sequel, "Clown Motel 3: Ways to Hell," promises an army of horror icons and plenty of bloody gore.

With its vast collection of clown figurines, haunted rooms, and themed decor, the Clown Motel has solidified its reputation as the Scariest Motel in America. For horror fans and thrill-seekers alike, a stay at this unique and terrifying destination is an experience that will leave them sleeping with one eye open.
