Bobby Gene Morgan

    Birth Date: 06/02/1937
    Deceased Date: 05/07/2024

Mr. Bobby Gene Morgan, age 86, of Princeton, passed away peacefully Tuesday, May 7, 2024. Bob was born in Elevation Township on June 2, 1937. He grew up in the Elevation community on a farm and attended Four Oaks schools. He had to drop out before completing 10th grade to help on the family farm. What some might see as a disadvantage, Bob used as a motivation and went on to have a successful career as at Top 10% Producer with Met Life Insurance Corp. He was also a sought after consultant in the Poultry Business after starting at the ground level and rising to the top position. Bob always gave credit to his mentors who became his trusted friends.

Bob was known to be a generous man, helping others in their most difficult times. He took great pleasure and pride in helping more than one young person achieve their educational goals. Bob was happiest while fishing or in his yard. He loved to have a garden with his famous Morgan peas. He enjoyed the flowers that were blooming all year long thanks to Laverne’s green thumb.

In addition to his parents, Eugene Earl Morgan and Lee Illa Register, Bob was preceded in death by his brother, Stacey Earl Morgan; his sisters, Kathy Morgan Pilkington and Joann Morgan Daughtry; and his loving wife of twenty-two years, Julie “Laverne” Tyner Worley Morgan.

He is survived by his brothers, Leroy Morgan of Clayton and Charles Morgan and wife, Rose of Pine Level; sister, Linda Morgan Matthews of Cape Carteret; numerous nieces and nephew; and his adoptive family, Stan and Beth Watson, their five children and four grandchildren, that affectionately called him “Uncle Bob”.

A graveside service will be conducted Thursday, May 16, 2024, at 1:00 p.m. at Tee’s Chapel Freewill Baptist Church by Rev. Dennis Pollock.

In lieu of flowers, the family would ask for memorials made to Tee’s Chapel Freewill Baptist Church, First Baptist Church Smithfield “Radio Broadcast” Ministry, or Princeton Senior Center.
