The area
Address
Neighborhood: El Raval
Once a downtrodden corner of downtown Barcelona, this gritty area has seen a cultural resurgence boasting an excellent nightlife and one of the most multi ethnic spots in the entire city. A sense of humble authenticity protrudes from the many independent record stores, second hand shops, and student bars that seem to light up the streets day and night. The rocking epicenter, the MACBA Plaça, is a modern day forum for bohemian youth, abuzz with the sights and sounds of late-night gatherings and talented skateboarders showing off their latest tricks.

    Must visit Gaudi creation!
This place was great! We wanted to visit one of Gaudi's creations, but some of the more popular ones were really expensive and a bit more of a walk from our airbnb. We had 2 kids with us, who likely wouldn't quite care enough to justify the price. Then we found this one! We spent about 2 hours here. Really enjoyed the kids audio guide, seeing the interesting basement, beautiful rooftop and so much more. So much interesting architecture, interesting things to learn from the audio guide and amazing place to visit.

    Absolutely Stunning!!
Another Gaudi’s work, this one is in early age and it is even in El Raval neighbourhood. The place used a lot of different materials, like ironwork, stone and of course pottery. The irongate definitely is one of the most eye-catching part! Also, there are a lot of new concept of space and lighting in that time, alongside with various decorative details!

    A must….
This was a last minute decision to visit, we hadn’t planned or pre booked but so glad we did. Probably our favourite Gaudi experience. Definitely value for money… price includes a head seat guide. Wasn’t busy like the park & sagrada. Very interesting & worth a visit.

    More Gaudi magic
Tucked down a side street, Nou de Rambla off the tourist thoroughfare. My hotel was almost dead opposite but didn't spot it for 2 days. It doesn't stand out from the outside but like everything Gaudi it's stunning and dont miss the roof, where the coloured tile madness

    Well worth a visit.
This place is amazing in every respect. The interior is stunning, so much to see. Not crowded, reasonably quiet and because you have your own audio guide, plenty of time to stand and stare. We visited at 10.30am and went straight in, no queue for tickets or for entry. Well worth a visit.

Don’t miss it if you love Gaudì.
We were favorably impressed. It doesn’t look like much from the street, but what a marvel inside. Also, this is not an apartment building, or a cathedral, but one family’s home. Amazing what he has done, including a stable downstairs and fancy chimneys on top. Audio guide included, and valuable.

    Great house, avoid your groups
I loved the house - not a place I’d want to live but the architectural design is fantastic. I rated it only a 4 though because we were there at the same time as a large guided group - and the property is not large enough for such groups. In addition, there are not enough toilets.

The Park Guell is AMAZING and needs to be seen with a competent guide to truly appreciate what you are seeing. It was astounding that this beautiful 47 acre park was designed and created in 1900. If you are in Barcelona, you MUST visit Park Guell

    A little more serious Gaudi
This site is very different from other Gaudi works. It is less playful and fairytale-like and more traditional. It more resembles the more serious houses of other top-class businessmen. Except for the typical Gaudi chimneys! If you want to see the essence of Gaudi, probably not the top pick. If you want to see more of his work and compare to his later and more bold creations, Guell palace is a great place to go. Except Casa Batlló and Casa Mila the price here is very affordable. Interesting is the owner of this house Guell is the same person, who comissioned creation of Guell park. It is a shame, you do not learn more about the family and why they decided to move their living into park.

    Gorgeous in La Rambla
This little palace should not be missed on your visit to Barcelona. From the moment you walk through the front gate you are mesmerized by the ironwork, stone and wood work. The pictures do not do it justice!! Gaudi created an amazing work of art here. Also, it’s a lot less expensive and less busy than the other houses. We walked right up to the ticket office and paid 12€ and that included an audio guide in the language of your choice. Amazing visit from the basement stables to the rooftop chimneys!!!

We were lucky to pick a quiet day so had a minimal wait before going in. The cost of the entry ticket was reasonable and included a free audio guide which was very comprehensive. The tour through the palace from basement to roof top takes about an hour. The craftmanship and attention to detail was fantastic. The City Council has also taken enormous care with respect to renovation and where replacement has been necessary the emphasis is to be as authentic as possible. The decoration throughout is stunning. There are examples of the original furniture is some rooms but many of the spaces are not 'dressed', which was a slight disappointment. Gaudi's flair and style shines through. For me the highlight was the roof and the magnificent chimney pots. If you've got time...go.

The Palau Güell is a mansion designed by the architect Antoni Gaudí for Eusebi Güell and built in the late 1800’s. A must visit as you get a lot of insight into both people. The inside is incredibly beautiful and you can see all the thought that went into every little detail, from the stables all the way to the rooftop. The audio guide is perfect as it walks you through the building and explains the little minutiae that are easy to be missed. At only 11€ for entry, which includes the self guided audio, it is a very reasonable fee.

It’s a nice, reasonably priced audio tour that takes about an hour. So much of the house is actually quite different from what you’d expect if you’ve only seen photos of the chimneys/roof. It’s sort of dark and not as flamboyant but it’s still great with so many unique touches, big and small, that it’s always interesting.

Palau Güell has a fascinating history and is well worth a visit for €12pp. Guided tours are also available at certain times at no extra cost. We did the English tour which started at 10 am and lasted approx 2 hours. It was excellent, our guide Virginia was very knowledgeable and passionate about her subject. Best of all, there was no crowds and no queue to get in, even though the house is situated just a short stroll from La Rambla.

Güell Tapas on the opposite side of the road is great for lunch after your tour (see separate review).

If you are strolling on La Rambla get one step out of your way and visit this place - you will not regret it .
At the first sight I didn't know how to feel about it ,as it was one of the first pit stops on our trip to Spain..
But now, after completing our trip ,I finally get it ..Spain is a whole " experience " in itself : the vibes , the nature , the people, the culture...they fill up your heart in such a big way ! Gaudi must have felt the same and wanted to share this through his genius art .
The inside of the house takes you a century back in time: try to picture yourself dressed in the moment and living a lavish life-style at the end of the 19th century ...
But once you get on the roof ,the shapes. the colors, the lights take you to a whole different level : " Barcelona" state of mind : embrace it and take it all in , you're now hooked for life ...

Another Gaudí classic. The house provides full access to the rooms used by the Guell family for living and entertaining. Best parts for us were examples of Gaudí-designed built-in furniture, fireplaces and the fabulous rooftop with its iconic chimneys. Be aware there are lots of stairs. We booked tickets in advance online for shortly after opening and there were very few other visitors.

I think this is one of the hidden gems of Barcelona. While you have to climb lots of stairs, it was so enthralling and amazing we hardly noticed until we were coming down from the roof to exit. Unbelievable craftsmanship on the wood, iron and brick work. From the stables in the basement to the chimneys on the roof, exquisite in every since.

The engineering and decor in this house is incredible. The audio tour is a little over-long (take headphones and a charged up phone because you do it using your phone, not their devices) but you can skip bits if you want. You can go down into the stables and up on the roof and everywhere inbetween for only EUR12, which is pretty reasonable.

Contrary to architect's later more famous works of Sagrada Familia, Casa Batllo and Pedrera, this one you can visit with a much more reasonable fee than others.
By no means you should therefore expect lower quality. Contrary to that, it was quite interesting to see the roots of his ideas he implemented later and improved and modified in another way in other buildings.
The house is set in a side street of La Rambla and belonged to a rich industrialist who hired Gaudi for arranging his home. The interiors are amazing, some parts even more interesting than in Batllo, with inevitable chimney roof sculptures and panoramas from up there.

We loved exploring here. The architecture and details are fantastic. Another Gaudi masterpiece! We did not buy our tickets in advance and there were no lines to get in when we visited (around 6pm on a Tuesday). FYI that the ticket office is a few doors down from the entry to the Palau itself. The ticket price is very reasonable and came with an audio guide that we found informative.
