  • Here, Drake lists off some of the things that his superstar status has enabled him to attain.

Booked a private room at Wylie's, waiter twistin' the cork
I got multi-colored rings like the Olympics, of course
At award shows, cuttin' through the tension, of course
Girls huggin' me then askin' me, "what scent that is, boy?"

In the same way that diplomats are granted the privilege of exemption from certain laws and taxes by the country in which they are working, Drake's position as a global artist has garnered him various pleasures.
  • Drake had a rumored two-month relationship with Jennifer Lopez after the pair spent some time in the studio together in late 2016. He addresses his supposed fling during this freestyle.

Waking up at 6 p.m. like, "Where does the day go?"
    Forecasting tornados
    Brainstorming retaliation at dinner tables
2010 was when I lost my halo
    2017 I lost a J. Lo

Drake previously made several references to Jennifer Lopez on his 2017 More Life album. He rapped about drunk texting her on "Free Smoke" and sampled her hit "If You Had My Love" on "Teenage Fever." In addition "Get It Together" is rumored to be about their alleged relationship.
  • Drake samples the intro to the Wu-Tang Clan's track "Triumph." Drake previously borrowed from the New York hip hop group on a couple of his Nothing Was The Same tracks – "Wu-Tang Forever" and "Pound Cake/Paris Morton Music 2."
  • Drake laid his rhymes down for this song the name night as he collaborated with in-house producer Boi-1da on "God's Plan." Boi-1da recalled to Billboard regarding the recording of "Diplomatic Immunity":

"I was really inspired and ended up playing it for him. And when Drake hears something he likes, he gets on it and it's actually what he did."
  • Boi-1da created the beat from a sample sent by producer Nick Brongers, who's known for his cinematic arrangements.

"Once I heard that part right there, I was like, 'Yeah, that sounds like magic to me,'" Boi-1da told Genius, describing Brongers' sample. "It sounds like you're on a yacht or something, sailing, over a luxurious dinner."

The producer then fleshed the beat out with drums, with the intention of keeping the instrumentation simple in order to keep Drake's rapping prominent.

"I basically arranged the beat for the sample to drop first," he explained. "Then the drums come in, and then near the end of the beat, the bassline comes in after. Just to always be climatic, and something always has to happen. I learned that from being in a lot of beat battles. You just have to give people climactic moments of beats. Every four bars I try to add something new or take something out. As simple as it is, it works and it was very effective."
