Key Findings:

Severe flooding in Nairobi, Kenya peaked between May 1st and May 3rd, primarily in the eastern edge of the city.

Based on population data from the Facebook platform, provided by Data for Good at Meta and satellite image analysis from UNOSAT, neighborhoods located around the central urban area saw consistent rates of increase in their total population as compared to a 90-day pre-event baseline, indicating areas probable displacement.

In the Kiambu area to the north of Nairobi, post-flooding daily population was consistently 5% greater relative to baseline than the pre-flooding daily peaks. The majority of these areas of consistent daily percentage increase were detected with high confidence of 95% or greater.
