I watched this many times over as a child when it first aired on ITV in the UK around December 1982 or 83. I had recorded it on a VHS tape which I eventually wore out watching. I was able to recite the movie and dialogue in my head. I have been looking for a perfect English version since, and this is near perfection.

There is only one glitch I've noticed, sadly. Right at the beginning in the first scene where Flash says "Yarnos it's me, Flash Gordon". We only hear "Yarnos" and "Gordon". The skip is noticeable but it's not a deal breaker.

Was there a problem with your VHS copy, or maybe an animation edit to accompany the French dubbing? It would be great if it's possible to maybe edit a fix for that, maybe from another copy.

It's crazy that an English language version was never released on home video in any format. This is quite easily the best portrayal of Flash Gordon, far more accurate, and a serious sci-fi adventure for all ages rather than just a cheesy cartoon. It's far superior to the hokey 1980 movie. It needs to be found, remastered and rereleased as you said. It's a near lost classic. The greatest adventure of all.
