      Critics Consensus

Vacancy's restraint with gore is commendable, the thin characters and B-movie cliches less so.

Joshua Land Time Out Rated: 4/5 Nov 18, 2011 Full Review Derek Malcolm London Evening Standard This more than slightly familiar scenario doesn't give the principals much scope for acting. Rated: 2/5 Jun 15, 2007 Full Review Anthony Quinn Independent (UK) director Nimrod Antal settles for a more generic horror-ride as the imperatives of stalk-and-escape take hold. For a while, though, this is first-rate second-hand material. Rated: 3/5 Jun 15, 2007 Full Review Patrick Cavanaugh The Wolfman Cometh Entirely forgettable and predictable, ultimately wasting an otherwise talented cast. Rated: 2/5 Sep 22, 2023 Full Review C.H. Newell Father Son Holy Gore Vacancy doesn't always deliver. What it does is keep things eerie, uncertain, and tries its best to follow in the vein of the slasher sub-genre. Rated: 3.5/5 May 3, 2019 Full Review Alberto Abuín Espinof The film turns into a regrettable run of the mill horror story. [Full Review in Spanish] Oct 19, 2018 Full Review Read all reviews

Hargie M Though it didn't quite terrify me, the constant sense of impending danger kept me thoroughly engaged. Stranded in a desolate motel, the protagonists' obliviousness to the peril surrounding them sets the stage for a suspenseful journey filled with unexpected twists. Rated 3 out of 5 stars 05/02/24 Full Review Audience Member This slasher horror is kind of good, acting is alright and the couple are very believable about each other. It does have very typical horror tropes like stuck in one location and trying to a survival the night and the owner or manager already weird how he been acting. The movie does a good job setting up everything real quickly even with the running time. Do like there is lot twists and turns as movie goes forward plus ending is kind of good. All in all boat bad I give a B-👍🏽👍🏽 Rated 4.5 out of 5 stars 03/19/24 Full Review Priyan B Worth watching suspenseful till end. Rated 3.5 out of 5 stars 02/20/24 Full Review Regina P Judging based on its budget and genre, this was pretty good. It's not high art (high horror), but it does the genre justice. Production quality and acting were theater-quality (which you can't say for most horror on streaming platforms). Rated 3.5 out of 5 stars 09/28/23 Full Review Stoner J Fantastic motel horror thriller, unlike the new one Bad Things which was terribly but somehow got better reviews than this! The directing, acting and music are all great from start to finish and the story is grade A. Rated 5 out of 5 stars 09/16/23 Full Review Read all reviews
