car ok, service too no problems

quick pick up ( just missed each other because of wrong terminal, but didnt take long anyway) and return.
No insisting for extra insurance ( I was all covered by cardelmar) unlike most of the time in europe...staff was nice, car almost new ( ok ok,,,there was no water for the wind shield wipers ,only negative point)
all together a smooth car rental, I would use it again

As described, but slow service

Relatively painless booking once all the small print found and read. Check in VERY slow at desk. 3 people behind desk but only 2 actually serving customers. Clients in front clearly had issues with their bookings which meant a half hour wait until we were served. Thank goodness there was no queue !
Car as described but obviously visible damage not marked on paperwork.

mostly good

booking was straightforward. telephone representative at sicilybycar (the rental company) was useless - i called from zurich to try to let them know by plane was delayed, and he just left me hanging on the line until all my crdit had expired. once i arrived in florence, though, the agency handled my booking smoothly. car was great (fiat 500)..!

Efficient web service

Car Del Mar was a good functional service and the booking was correctly handled and forwarded to Sicily Cars.
Car Del mar made a point of highlighting some of the insurance issues which was good advice and enabled me to arrange higher insurance and so reduce the amount held on the car which in some peoples place was 2-3 thousand euros. Mine was small at 800

Issues were with Sicily Cars and lack of signage and waiting nearly 2 hours to be served. No issues with Car Del Mar

Cost effective

Car Del Mar, as an agency, was able to source a hire car for around 20% less than other agencies or going direct to the car hire providers. The car hire firm used (Europcar) was able to provide a car suitable for 6 people plus bags.

No complaints

Easy to book online; sometimes the rental company tries to give me a car I don't want but if I decline they give me what I requested in the first place; what I get in terms of online experience and service has always been in line with what I expect. I'll continue to use them.

We had a business trip to Italy in the…

We had a business trip to Italy in the winter and since in general italians don't offer winter tyres, we found a Cardelmar offer on billiger-mietwagen for 544€, whereas the offers without winter tyres were for around 200€. At the pickup it turned out that the car was not with winter tyres as booked. I called the billiger-mietwagen and the customer service assured me that once back we can claim the difference. It took me a month and numerous emails with the arrogant cardelmar staff, where initially they claimed that they had not offered winter tyres and later on claimed that the provider on site was not obliged to provide the winter tyres!!! But this was the reason to pay more than double.
If I could give negativ stars, I would gladly do that.
I recommend highly to stay away from these arrogant frauds.
They only collect cash and rely only that no one will start any legal actions, since they will cost much more than the claims.
Horrible experience and I assure you - never ever again!

AVOID THIS SCAM COMPANY!

AVOID THIS SCAM COMPANY!! (SAME COMPANY HAS ALSO DRIVE RENT A CAR, GLOBAL RENT A CAR, GREEN MOTION RENT A CAR) ALL THE SAME SCAM! I have booked a car with this company with full insurance, when returned they said that cat jumping from a tree damages the roof and that i had to pay 1000€ for the damage. I told them i have full insurance but they didnt car they just took 1000€ and thats it. They told me if i have problems with insurence to contact the manager named Serif. When i claimed the insurance i recieved only 850€ because this manager Serif charged me 150€ compensation for lost revenue in time of repair which is not covered by any insurance! Actual damage was 650€, all other was some administrative fees and this compensation. And the car will never be repaired because its 7 years old Fiat Panda with 50000km. Never ever use this company, also be avare that they have also company Drive rent a car, Global rent a car and green motion rent a car!!

Wait to get car but it worked (almost)

Unfortunately, we had to wait an hour at Hertz Port Elizabeth Airport before a car was available....there were a number of other people waiting also.
Hence, I was so pleased when it came that I did not bother to check the fuel gauge which, after doing a few kilometres I noticed was only just under 3/4 full. However, I did not want to take it back and waste another hour whilst they found me another. Thus I had to fill it up on return as I did not think that I would be believed as I dropped it off in Cape Town Airport.

Nevertheless the car was OK and gave us no problems

Everything Fine!

The partner company in my case was Avis, at Lisbon airport. The service was great, albeit with an expected long queue. With other agencies I have booked through I have been hit with large additional unexpected costs, but not with CarDelMar (this hire I booked through CarRentals.com).
My only reservation was that I had asked for return with full fuel, but was charged a fuel surcharge. This was not an issue as the fuel charge was reasonable and I did sufficient miles to more than empty the tank. This would of course affect others that would not use all the fuel paid for.

Uncomplicated Car Hire

The booking system was uncomplicated and easy to do on-line. We had no problem with the car or the returns procedure even though our flight was earlier than their opening times. Only minor grouch was they are so popular that there was a very long queue for pick up!

Great value

The car I picked up in Cape Town airport was an Opel Adam. The roof was white and the rest of the bodywork a dark blue. At first sight I did not like the combination, but it was however a great car to use for three weeks.
Six speed manual, aircon, cruise control, one push windows, all at a great price.
I got a best of 54 mpg.
The one thing I disliked, and I have experienced one before in a Mercedes, was the stop/start operation of the engine when at standstill.
The quality of finish on the car was poor, but the overall experience was hard to fault. Really great value at the price, and all the extras I needed too.

Hassle free booking

Easy to book online. Got full insurance included at the time of booking so did not have pay anything extra at the desk. The car was very new and clean. The pick up and return were totally hassle free.

Excess winter tyre charges

All went well until the car was picked up when we were hit with unnecessary charges for winter tyres, these apparently are compulsory in Switzerland, the fact I was using the car in France did not seem to be considered. Disappointed.

A+ for affordable car rental

CarDelMar offered the best quote on a 4x4 for a roadtrip around Iceland - over £600 cheaper for 10 days than some competitors. They clearly communicated that there would be charges at the local rental company, but these were minimal and were not a surprise. The website was easy to navigate and well communicated.

Our local rental company was Go Iceland. The car was brand new, after a complimentary upgrade when we arrived, with a built in Satnav - which saved us some money. They were very diligent and friendly, and made sure we understood everything. They also graciously refunded us for a bottle of oil we had to purchase as the car mysteriously ran out of oil half way around the trip.

Altogether a pleasant and positive experience - and I would happily use both companies again.
