- Edited 2 years agoI did find this album in local store. Never heard about Tony Fruscella before, I approached to it at distance, espaciall from MOV label. For rock OK, but jazz? Only Phil Sunkel I know from Gil Evans band. After listening it at home I am excited of it. Excellent pressing and sound, even from DMM cutting and digital source. Style of Tony´s playing is very unique. Touch of Chet Baker or spinch of Miles, but how is emphasizes of his parts or express melodies is unmistikable. The arrangements or baroque mood of some tunes (His Master Voice) reminiscents MJQ. Superb bluesy Metropolitan Blues or specific interpretation of I´ll Be Seeing You adding a new dimension. I like bit "dirty" sound of Eager and Fruscella. Perfect rhythm section on Raintree County. Or wonderful Blues Serenade with brillinat piano part. Rare record of artist who died too early and to me one of the jazz treasures from middle 50´s. The mono sound has natural feeling on high and middle spectrum, bit cloudy bass, but overal outstanding quality including cover. I hope that MOV brings another diamond to the market. Easily recommended.
Good quality record, sounds very good! This is a nice trumpet piece which would deserve to be better known. Highly recommended.

Edited 3 years agoThis is not only a very beautiful und criminally neglected album but a very fine pressing. One of the best I have heard from Music On Vinyl to be honest -- especially in regard to how the music breathes. Especially ‘Salt’ explodes out of my speakers. Gorgeous.
