Ragdoll is the twenty-fifth episode of the third season of Bluey.

Synopsis[]

Dad agrees to take Bluey and Bingo to the shops to buy an ice-cream if they can get him into the car. Only problem is... he's just entered Ragdoll Mode!

Episode Recap[]

Warning Spoilers!

Bluey finds a 10-dollar note on the floor, which she shows to Bingo, then they show to Dad, asking him if he can drive them to buy ice cream. Bandit simply snatches the money from them, telling them that it's his, which he may have dropped. The kids complain, to which their dad tells them that they need to work for money. The kids don't want to listen and complain some more. Determined to teach them the value of hard work, he offers them a drive to the corner shop. With just one extra catch: "Ragdoll!"

Moving a very big, heavy and limp Blue Heeler ragdoll would be of utmost challenge for the girls, although he himself is not spared from the peril; they have to roll him to the door, he has to endure falling down the stairs and all that. It isn't just the girls trying to get him to the car, however, as Bandit constantly peppers in words of wisdom about hard work along the way, which constantly annoys them. Refusing to learn from him anymore, they give up trying to get him to drive, although they continue realizing how much they want ice cream.

With a skateboard and some roller skates, they find an easy way out of the house. That is when Wendy notices the three. After hearing their story, she decides to help the girls getting him into the car, not without a spectacular display of strength of her lifting Bandit into the driver's seat after "10 years of pilates". Even then, Bandit tells them that he can't be driving at that state. So Wendy offers to be the one driving.

At the corner shop, the girls get what they came for. Indeed, ice cream that comes from hard work tastes absolutely great, and Bluey gets to experience that feeling.

Trivia[]

  • In this episode, Bandit chooses the game and Bluey and Bingo groan "Oh no, not ragdoll!"
    • Usually Bandit is reluctant to hear what games Bluey and Bingo chooses but in this episode, Bandit chooses a game for them, which means that the opposite happens with Bluey and Bingo.
  • This is the first episode where Bandit reads the title.
  • We witness Wendy's strength for the first time as she seems able to lift Bandit into his car with ease thanks to "ten years of Pilates."
    • Pilates are a series a mind-body exercises invented by and named after German physical trainer Joseph Pilates in the early twentieth century. While it is compared to similar exercise methods such as yoga or tai chi, Pilates does not delve as deeply into spirituality as other methods (although there is a mental aspect to it).
  • The music in the episode, as well as the song sung by Bluey, Bingo, and Wendy, is based on the clapping game "Down By The Banks."
  • When Bandit is sliding down the stairs, each of the framed photos that are hung on the wall of the stairs appear twice.
  • The ice cream that Bluey receives at the end of the episode is a Splice Pine Lime. This is a reference to Ice Cream (S02E47), in which Bluey mishears Bandit's statement that her and Bingo's melted ice cream will give them a "valuable life lesson," responding with "I don't want a valuable lime [emphasis added] lesson; I just want an ice cream."
  • This episode marks Wendy's second major role.
  • When this episode aired on Disney Channel in the US, it was paired with Faceytalk and Fairytale.
