ABOUT THE ARTIST
Peter Stewart is among a rare breed of modern artists, breaking the mold with his conceptual based imagery and unique style of fine art travel photography.
With little over twelve years behind the camera, Peter has built up a reputable portfolio of award-winning images and established himself alongside some of the worlds best-known travel photographers.
Entirely self-taught, Peter’s interest in photography started during his early solo backpacking trips around South-East Asia, where the desire to document both the beauty and chaos of its landmarks and sprawling megacities took hold.
Born in Australia, but with half his life spent living in England, he later made the move back to his home city of Perth in his mid-twenties. In 2014, he decided to fully embrace the nomadic lifestyle and sold all of his possessions (minus the cameras naturally), in order to travel almost exclusively full-time. Subsequently moving to Hong Kong as a second home upon which to base his movements around Asia. It was here that Peter cemented his style of hyperreal architecture photography, finding inspiration in the patterns and shapes of the high rise estates strewn across the city.
Later in 2018, Peter migrated again to Hội An in Central Vietnam, now his current base in-between travels.
Peter's images often focus on themes involving a mass scale, with the underlying desire being to showcase the urban sprawl within Asia's megacities.
Fully embracing a digital workflow to produce and manipulate his images, Peter continues to strive for that look he says hinges on the edge of fantasy and reality. The use of vibrant color and enhanced textures are just some of the hallmarks of his images. Surprisingly, he is also a vocal supporter of traditional film photography. Still opting to work with 35mm film for many of his personal projects and street photography.

WHATS IN MY BAG
DIGITAL CAMERAS
My primary workhorse is the Nikon D810. I use this for the majority of my work due to the incredible resolution and latitude for editing that raw files from this camera can provide. More recently, I've also been shooting with the Fuji X100f as my secondary camera for handheld use when travelling. The compact nature of the Fuji, along with the Ricoh GR which I adore for street photography, allow me to capture impromptu scenes in the moment, saving the bulkier DSLR setup for the times when I'm typically tripod based and have a pre-planned setup in mind.

LENSES
As a full-time traveller, I have to carry every piece of equipment with me wherever I go. So keeping weight limits to a minimum on lenses is one of my top priorities. For this reason, I rely on the Nikon 24-70 f/2.8 & Nikon 70-200 f/4 zooms as my primary optics to cover the general wide to tele focal ranges. For ultra-wide scenes and architecture, my goto lens is the Samyang 14mm f/2.8 prime. As an affordable low-cost and lightweight lens, I find it easily rivals the optical quality of many other expensive wide angle primes.
