This release is fantastic, and boasts a stellar list of musicians who've already had an amazingly fertile past (sooo many projects and interminglings together in various combinations, as solo artists, and in their earlier, past groups) I shouldn't need to spell it all out. It yields this weirdly tangled, glorious mess of a protest song, all spritely, weathered postpunk with generous dollops of dub attention and a delicate guitar-skank element in the background that comes and goes. Anything that brings together members of PiL, Killing Joke, The Orb, Sabres of Paradise, and centers it around a necessarily radical, righteous anger will always get my attention and support.
From the Popmatters article about the single: '"It's the Cream of post-punk for me, the Dream Team, a new wave supergroup," says [Mark] Stewart. "The song's alternative title is 'Forbidden London'."' referencing A Very British Coup (CD, EP, Stereo) 80P-009-CD
