Kaka

FLASHBACK: Kaka, right, races to celebrate with his teammate Kevin Molino during their time at Orlando City, in the American MLS.

Former Trinidad and Tobago captain Kevin Molino is counting down the days as he prepares to welcome his former Orlando City teammate, ex-Brazilian star Kaka, ahead of a May 10 encounter featuring Trinidad and Tobago against the International Legends.

Molino is among ex-national team players who have been called up by event host Russell Latapy for the upcoming All Stars Exhibition, a charity event, slated for an 8 p.m. kick-off at the Hasely Crawford Stadium.

Kaka made 75 league appearances in his three seasons with Orlando, scoring 24 goals and providing 22 assists between 2014-2017 before moving to Sao Paulo. Molino lined up alongside the former AC Milan man on several occasions during his tenure at Orlando from 2011-2016.

The Brazilian World Cup-winning quartet of Kaka, Rivaldo, Cafu and Edmilson are the marquee names set to come up against former national captain Dwight Yorke, who leads a group of ex-Soca Warriors including Carlos Edwards, Stern John, Brent Sancho, Kelvin Jack, Devorn Jorsling, Densill Theobald. Former “Strike Squad” members Leonson Lewis, Brian Williams are Hutson Charles are also expected to participate.

Mwanwhile, Joevin Jones, Khaleem Hyland, Marvin Phillip, Carlyle Mitchell, Radafah Abu Bakr and Curtis Gonzales are just a few of the names Latapy confirmed on Wednesday for the match.

For Molino, it’s one of those matches that he’s had on his bucket-list and he’s excited about getting the chance to fulfil that ambition. “It’s a big honour for me to play on the same pitch alongside some of the legends of Trinidad and Tobago football,” Molino said.

“These are some players that I never got the opportunity to play with and this game will give myself and some of my other ex-teammates the chance to grace the same field with these legends. I’m definitely excited but also looking to win,” he added.
