Welcome to Match 13 of IPL 2023 as the defending champions Gujarat Titans host the Kolkata Knight Riders at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad. Refresh for live updates!

Rinku turns KKR ashes into flames -- KKR win!

29 to win off the final over, and Rinku Singh hammers 5 sixes in succession to pull off one of the greatest finishes of all time! Yash Dayal was the unfortunate bowler at the receiving end of the carnage, as Gujarat Titans are denied the top spot on the points table tonight!

Rashid hat-trick extinguishes KKR hopes

Rashid Khan, the wunderkind, got rid of Andre Russell (1), Narine (0) and Thakur (0) to blow away any hopes of a KKR turnaround! What a time for Rashid to put his best foot forward!

Iyer dismissal spells doom for KKR

The wicket of Iyer led to a flurry of wickets, including the key wicket of Andre Russell and Sunil Narine -- the few quick nails on the coffin for KKR in tonight's encounter.

Soft dismissal for Rana

Slower ball, in the slot, had to be six most days but not today for Rana as he chips a dolly to mid-off. A very lucky break for GT.

Iyer, Rana on fire

With a big target and a not-so-great start, KKR needed their senior men to step up and so far, they have done just that. It's been calculated batting so far, crisp strokes with a proper aim of the short boundary. Even Rashid Khan has been put under pressure.

Not the perfect debut for Jagadeesan

On his KKR debut, Jagadeesan doesn't last long and perishes to a soft dismissal against Little, holing out to deep square leg

Venky Iyer enters as the Impact Sub for KKR

As soon as Gurbaz departed, KKR were quick to sub out Suyash Sharma, to get in an extra batter. Iyer, on his part, has begun with a fierce upper-cut over third man for six!!

Shami strikes early!

Like he so often does, Shami provides the early breakthrough for Gujarat, taking out Gurbaz with a deceptive bouncer. The highlight was the catch, as short fine leg and the keeper both went for it, the latter held on despite a collision of sorts.

GT introduce their impact player Josh Little

The Irish left-arm pacer takes the place of Sai Sudharsan who has been subbed out at the innings break. The Titans, quite obviously, wanted to strengthen their bowling with the batting done.

Shankar blitzkrieg powers GT to 204

An incredible display of ball-striking from Vijay Shankar has helped the defending champs to finish with a strong total on the board. The all-rounder smashed 63 off just 24 balls with four boundaries and five sixes. He was particularly severe in the final two overs of the innings, bowled by Ferguson and Shardul respectively. If the Kiwi pacer's over went for 25, the 'Lord' wasn't spared either as 20 came off the final over. Sudharsan and Gill did the construction job earlier on as they set a platform for the carnage that followed. However, there was a slowdown of sorts and KKR would have fancied keeping GT to a score of 185 or under, but they didn't expect this onslaught. It's a good pitch to bat on but this will still take some chasing.

Sudharsan gets out after a solid fifty

He did slow down a bit towards the end but another valuable knock from Sudharsan, controlling the innings with some impressive play against the spinners. He's fallen in Narine's final over, trying to up the ante.

Suyash produces a peach

A nicely looped googly deceives Manohar in flight and turns just enough beat him on the inside edge to rattle the timber. A timely breakthrough for KKR.

Fearless Manohar makes a statement

First game of the season but two balls is all Manohar needs before going 4-4-4 against Umesh Yadav to ensure that GT don't lose any momentum. Proper proactive T20 batting.

Narine breaks the partnership....again!

Gill's high-intent eventually brings about his downfall as he steps out to hoick Narine, only to miscue it to long-on. A lovely little knock but GT will have wanted him to bat deeper into the innings.

Sai joins in the act

Fresh from his knock against Delhi, Sai Sudharsan also takes on the spinners with aplomb, playing some delightful lofted strokes. He and Gill have also rotated strike beautifully, setting up perfect platform for the back end.

Gill toys with the spinners

It's not everyone's cup of tea to bully the spin duo of Narine and Varun but Gill had shown his prowess to tackle mystery spin long back - when he dominated Rashid Khan while playing for KKR long ago - and the Knight Riders are now on the other end of the Gill masterclass. Using his feet when needed, using the depth of the crease as well and making a mockery of the spinners' radar.

Powerplay: GT 54/1

A fluent start for the Titans, initially set up by Saha's cameo that was cut short by a superb catch from KKR's debutant Jagadeesan off Narine as spin started well for the visitors. But Varun's first over couldn't follow up, as he sprayed five wides before getting creamed for two fours by Gill. As a result, GT have started well on what looks a good batting deck.

Kolkata Knight Riders (Playing XI): Rahmanullah Gurbaz(w), N Jagadeesan, Nitish Rana(c), Rinku Singh, Andre Russell, Sunil Narine, Shardul Thakur, Suyash Sharma, Lockie Ferguson, Umesh Yadav, Varun Chakaravarthy

Kolkata Knight Riders Subs: Anukul Roy, Vaibhav Arora, David Wiese, Mandeep Singh, Venkatesh Iyer

Gujarat Titans (Playing XI): Wriddhiman Saha(w), Shubman Gill, Sai Sudharsan, Vijay Shankar, David Miller, Rahul Tewatia, Abhinav Manohar, Rashid Khan(c), Mohammed Shami, Alzarri Joseph, Yash Dayal

Gujarat Titans Subs: Jayant Yadav, Srikar Bharat, Mohit Sharma, Matthew Wade, Joshua Little

TOSS - Gujarat opt to bat. Big news is that skipper Hardik Pandya is rested. Rashid Khan is the captain. Vijay Shankar replaces the captain. KKR bring in Lockie Ferguson for Tim Southee and N Jagadeesan for Mandeep Singh

How is the pitch going to play?

It is a fresh pitch that is being used. On my right, it is 65m, on my left, 62m. Straight down the ground is 73m. In the one game that was played here, the spinners ruled the roost. Their economy rate was better. Rashid Khan, Mitchell Santner, and Ravindra Jadeja created some problems for the batters. This one though looks like a beautiful batting wicket. There is no patchy grass on this wicket. Spinners might have a bit of role to play but the quicks have a terrific opportunity as the pitch has a shine to it and even grass but it is a batting surface, reckon Matthew Hayden and Rohan Gavaskar in their pitch report.

Thepla or Luchi - what's your Sunday afternoon going to be like?

A tough choice to make if you're a foodie, no?? As far as cricketing rivalry goes, this is not there. Not yet anyway. But this clash between teams from Gujarat and West Bengal has a lot of inner context to it - a common ground. While the Titans are facing the eternal 'second season test', the Knight Riders are trying to create a new identity for themselves with a seasoned coach at the helm. While the reigning champions are on a roll, their opponents for this afternoon are also buzzing after a big win the other night. So, which side are you on??
