During the 1980s the Chieftains started to dabble in more than just Irish folk music. The previous album focused on traditional Chinese music, and for Celtic Wedding they journeyed to Brittany, a Celtic enclave in France, and focused on the music of the Bretons.
It should be of no surprise that Breton music, while containing some French traditions, is not far removed from other Celtic music. Part of the joy is hearing the vocal songs in the Breton language (which is quite beautiful), and the Chieftains approach the music with both the passion and class they are known for.
