Badfinger had the worst luck of any recording unit I can remember to date.
After a successful tour of America, the band returned to the UK only to learn that their finances amounted to virtually zilch.
Record sales had been strong, wth four hit singles, and a huge-selling LP entitled No Dice ,but again, royalties were channeled back to cover huge production costs and their equipment and the rest disappeared with the downfall of APLLE.
In addition, after APPLE imploded, the band signed with WARNER BROTHERS Records but the lawsuits werre never-ever ending.
Remember, the large labels can afford lawyers.... band-members rarely can tap into those kind of resources.
Totally fed up with the whole mess, the great Peter Ham hung himself in 1975.
The band tried to soldier on without Pete, but in 1985 band-mate Tom Evans joined his friend in Rock N Roll Heavan, again by hanging himself.
This set has it all. Their best-remembered recordings,
May I add, the band was very good performing live, often true to their recordings without the use of gimmicks or off-stage recording-playback equipment.
NOT from the liner notes.
RIP Pete and Tom and Badfinger
