About the Polar Bears
Ranked in the national polls throughout the season, Bowdoin will be making its fourth NCAA Tournament appearance overall. The Polar Bears, currently ranked 14th in the nation, advanced to the NCAA Quarterfinals in their last tournament trip in 2022. Head Coach Bill Mason is in his third campaign at the helm of Bowdoin and has led the program to its winningest three-year stretch in program history, racking up a 40-13 mark dating back to the beginning of the 2022 campaign.

Eight Polar Bears were recognized in All-Conference honors last week, including NESCAC Player of the Year Will Byrne. A dynamic attackman, Byrne has made an indelible mark on the Bowdoin record books in just three seasons. His 156 goals are fourth all-time, his 124 assists are third, and his 280 points stand second only to Tom Ryan's 315 in program history. Additionally, his 53 assists this season are the most in a single season in school history.

Faceoff specialist Ethan Barnard 865 career faceoff wins are easily the most in school history while his .620 winning percentage (career) stands second all-time at Bowdoin.

Backed by the performance of goaltender Robert Hobbs – a second Team All-NESCAC choice – as well as All-Conference defenseman Jed Hoggard and Nate Ryan, Bowdoin's defense ranked third in the NESCAC at 10.81 goals per game this season. The Polar Bears led the conference with a 75.6% penalty kill percentage and a 48.7% man-up scoring percentage on the year.

Bowdoin has never faced Grove City in its history and the teams do not have a common regular season opponent this year. All five of Bowdoin's losses this year came to NCAA Tournament qualifiers, as have three of Grove City's four losses.
