Filled with jealousy, the evil witch Maleficent (Eleanor Audley) curses Princess Aurora (Mary Costa) to die on her 16th birthday. Thanks to Aurora's guardian fairies (Verna Felton, Barbara Jo Allen, Barbara Luddy), she only falls into a deep sleep that can be ended with a kiss from her betrothed, Prince Phillip (Bill Shirley). To prevent Phillip from rescuing Aurora, Maleficent kidnaps and imprisons him. The good fairies are the last hope to free Phillip so that he can awaken Aurora.

The best Disney princess movie, in my opinion. The music is fantastic, the animation is visually entertaining, the characters are legendary, and has the greatest villain of all time, Maleficent. Highly recommend it! It's a shame it wasn't a big hit in its time

Arguably the last movie of Disney's first golden age of animation. The visual elements really drive the narrative here and basing the score on Tchaikovsky's ballet was a stroke of genius making several scenes feel like a lost sequence from "Fantasia"

Small kids will find it enchanting and the animation has aged fairly well while the villain is a more akin to a cardboard cutout and most of the characterization is also pretty one dimensional while the stories stakes hardly develop to anything truly involving.
