Sophomore: Indian River State College is a great undergraduate community college to attend to, especially if you want to stay local. The professors there are great and are positive ,reinforcing, and willing to help. Tuition is relatively low and guidance counselors are also a plus. There are not a lot of parties to my knowledge but there are a lot of on going programs that take place during the day. Although the campus is spread out between 4 cities it is relatively big as a whole, with a wide variety of beautiful scenery. Freshman: The Ybor campus is lively, diverse, and welcoming. It's in the heart of historic Ybor surrounded by humble brick walls, colorful murals, and most apparent of all, the rowdy roosters; just simply walking to class brought me joy. Students were passionate about events, I constantly saw flyers promoting the activities they were hosting. Some examples were: mental health workshops, a play adaptation of The Odyssey, career fairs, and fashion and talent shows. The community was charming and lovely. It consisted of mostly Black students and though I am Asian, everyone was inviting, kind, and friendly; they never made me once feel like an outcast. Other: Florida State College at Jacksonville is good as far as community colleges go. The tuition prices are reasonable, and the admissions counselors put a great deal of effort in assisting students with financial aid. I have had classes on the Downtown and Kent campuses, and both were very clean and organized. The faculty is kind and friendly, always willing to help students. I am also an Early College/ Dual enrollment student, and many of my professors were very understanding and welcoming to us. The food at the Downtown campus is absolutely amazing. The portions are sizeable, and the prices are reasonable. The workers are also very friendly and efficient. Freshman: Sheridan technical is a great school. Most of my friends have studied there and told me that the teachings at the school is very impressive.
