The best part of being a part of the Anoka-Hennepin School District is that it is part of the great state of Minnesota, which means I can participate in PSEO. When I was in middle school I also enjoyed participating in Math Club at Jackson Middle School. During Covid the school also provided free lunches, which was great.
One of the worst parts for me was the elective choices, after my sophomore year I felt like I had done all the electives that interested me and I ended up having to take classes that I didn’t enjoy. One of the best parts were the staff. There are some amazing teachers who truly care about their students and that they are learning things. The counselor I had was always really helpful and open to talk and plan things whenever I needed which I really appreciated.
I have found that lots of the teachers are willing to help, but you do have to reach out and make the effort to achieve those goals. I've found that some counselors can be dismissive of personal issues and experiences, leading some students not to feel trusting in the staff or faculty. The sporting events and pep fest really do encapsulate the high school experience, and everyone makes an effort to make it enjoyable.
