IN THE CARE OF
Schoedinger Midtown
John William McDonald was born on April 27, 1948, to John D. McDonald and Mary (Horton) McDonald in Columbus, Ohio. He was the eldest brother to siblings: Elizabeth, Sharon, and Kenneth McDonald. On October 15, 2021, John William passed away from a sudden heart attack. Even though a failing heart took him away from this world, his loving heart impacted and uplifted his children, grandchildren, and so many friends, family, and loved ones.
John William was a proud graduate of South High School – class of 1968. He learned the value of hard work and work ethic from his employment with Timken Steel. Later, he worked over twenty-five years for Pickaway Correctional Institution as a correctional officer. Simultaneously, John William worked over twenty-five years for the Ohio High School Athletic Association as an umpire. He was a faithful member of The Truth Church where he always attended Sunday service regardless of the weather. He loved gardening, playing cards, and shooting pool... but above all else, he loved spending time with his grandchildren.
John William is survived by his beautiful daughter, Kristin Renee, and devoted sons Charles David and Jonathan Michael McDonald. He also leaves behind six granddaughters, two grandsons, two sisters, his brother, nieces, nephews, and a host of friends.
