A Look at Wright College

Wilbur Wright College is a learning-centered, multi-campus institution of higher education, providing students of diverse backgrounds, talents and abilities a quality education leading to baccalaureate transfer and career advancement.  Wright, the City Colleges of Chicago (CCC) College to Careers hub for Information Technology, has developed strategic partnerships with top companies within the industry and offers associate degrees in Science, Arts and Applied Sciences. 

Located on the Northwest Side of Chicago in the Dunning neighborhood, the college was established in 1934 and named in honor of Wilbur Wright who, along with his brother Orville, designed and flew the first powered airplane in 1903, a feat that stretched the boundaries of aviation technology and catapulted the world into a new era of research and education.  Wright has a satellite campus in Humboldt Park as well.

The college has a long and proud athletic tradition. In 1939, Wright served as the site of the United States’ first synchronized swimming competition, which matched Wright against the Chicago Teachers' College. Today, Wright competes in the National Junior College Athletic Association (NJCAA) and fields teams in men's basketball and women's basketball.  Highlighting the Rams' recent successes was Sierra Sanders of the women's basketball team earning NJCAA All-America honors in 2018-19  In all, Wright has produced eight All-Region IV players (5 men's basketball, 3 women's basketball) and four NJCAA Academic Award winners since 2011-12.  Wright's status as an affiliate member of the North Central Community College Conference (N4C) came to an end in 2019-20.  From 2011-12 to 2019-20, the Rams landed eight players on the All-N4C Team (6 men's basketball, 3 women's basketball).
