On September 25, soap-hopper Joe Lando disclosed that he had just undergone a total knee replacement. “And no, Dr. Quinn didn’t do the surgery,” joked the actor, who starred opposite Jane Seymour on CBS’ popular period drama from 1993-98. “She’s more of an open-heart specialist.”

Accompanying the actor’s Instagram post was a video in which he explained, “I’m laying in recovery… I’m having some trouble breathing, but I think I’ll get over it.

“I’m really, really high right now,” he added before panning his phone to the left to “introduce” the nurses who were looking after him. “There’s the wonderful ladies that are taking care of me. I’ll keep you posted. Bye.”

Lando is, of course, beloved to soap fans for his early-1990s stint as Jake Harrison on One Life to Live. He went on to play MacAuley West on Guiding Light and Bold & Beautiful judge Craig McMullen, who presided over Bill Spencer and Katie Logan’s custody trial in 2018 and turned loose Sheila Carter in early 2023 (see photo at top of post).

In primetime, Lando is best known for Dr. Quinn. As a matter of fact, so popular was his pairing with Seymour that the former co-stars re-teamed for Hallmark Channel’s Perfectly Prudence and Lifetime’s A Christmas Spark.
