Great album , shame for excorbitant prices being asked for . But that's the way , looks like , these days !

Haven't compared this to the 2015 repress yet, but this version is a decent pressing. Few cackles and surface noise here and there (Last Stop: This Town, Hospital Food), but still tolerable to listen to. The translucent blue color matches the cover quite elegantly.

Will this be back in print anytime soon? Sadly missed this the first time around and back on a BIG Eels kick lately!

is there really no US cassette of this? I find it hard to believe. plenty of other dreamworks releases this year came out on cassette, and i'm pretty sure i recall seeing this on cassette in stores at the time. anyone?

E brings us something truly wonderful here. Looking into his past, you can learn many things that make this album that much better. Learning about it changed my view on this album. While it sounds like some edgy 14 year old being edgy for the sake of being edgy, taking the time to LISTEN to the lyrics and not just hear them will reveal that E is not a man looking for help. E is a man looking to help us and make peace with the demons of his past. It's a fantastic emotional ride that barely anyone would want to take us on. Maybe it is time to live, E. Maybe.

Something is wrong with my side D, it's quite distorted in a way that suggests it's mistracking horribly. The other sides sound fine, though the vinyl is noisy. Packaging is fantastic however.

Wow, what a fantastic pressing of an amazing album. Rich sound, picking up on things I never did before. Great packaging too.

The second cd of Eels is even more a solo project of professional pessimist E then the debut Beautiful Freak from 1996. On that plate you still had the idea to listen to a tape, but on Electro-shock Blues he does, partly because of the departure of bassist Tommy, as good as everything ourselves. However, he is helped by his regular drummer Butch and a number of guest musicians like Grant Lee Philips (of Grant Lee Buffalo) and other less acquaintances for violin, cello and clarinet parties. In his interview with Oene Kummer (ear 19, 1998) says E: ' this is typically a cd that people don't go for their fun spin. And indeed, E makes a particularly gloomy impression. Cause: the death of his sister, a friend, his landlord and the incurable illness of his mother. Yet there between songs with titles such as Going To Your Funeral, Cancer For The Cure and Hospital Food again enough gems where you in spite of everything, very happy.
