I can't make it to Clear Lake today. I wish I could.
For some reason, this has hit me harder than others from our class. You weren't my best friend in high school. In fact, the last couple years, we probably didn't talk very much. No reason, just didn't have the same schedule.
I didn't cry when we lost Paul Harthan, but that would have made more sense. I spent a lot of time with him in the band room during lunch. Maybe it's because his passing wasn't a surprise.
I cried for you yesterday at church. I've never lit a candle at church for anyone. It seemed like a Catholic thing and I just never had the urge.
Yesterday, I lit a candle for you. Then, I lit one for Paul.
Every year, even the last couple when we didn't see each other very much, we had a tradition of trading school pictures, without even having to ask. You were always the first picture I'd give and yours was always the first I would get.
I loved hearing you sing. You had my favorite alto voice in the choir. I hope you never stopped.
I know the choir of angels just got better. This Christmas, when I think about the Choirs of Angels singing in Exultation at the birth of Christ, your voice will be one I hear.
Bless you. I hope you have peace.
