Yes, the Germans blasted open the entrance to the canyon, explaining why is wasn't accidentally discovered in the last 2000 years.

That always bothered me that anybody could easily stumble upon the canyon.

I know what you mean, but it’s guarded by the Brotherhood of the Cruciform sword. The film shows us that they attack anyone coming near and even track and kill people in different countries before they even get close.

The Germans only make it because they have camels, horses, an armed escort, provisions, desert vehicles…

and tanks.

How did they get all that?

What did they exchange for it?

Rolls Royce Phantom II. Four point three litre, thirty horse-power, six cylinder engine. With Stromberg Downdraft Carbuetor. Can go from zero to a hundred kilometers an hour in twelve point five seconds. And he even liked the colour.

I have seen this photo a long time ago in a site for deleted scenes. I think this is the scene where the Nazis blow up the entrance to the cave. I think there was also a dialogue in that scene, but I may be wrong.

Site?

Yes it is. It's described in several of the novelisations, and if im not mistaken in the Junior version (no pun intended) thats wjere they have the whole "Named after the dog" conversation.

Clearly, Steven made the right changes.

The novelisations are great respurces for deleted scenes, as theyre written based off a shooting script and Steven was always changing things to accommodate the film itself.

This happened with the Star Wars movies, too; the novelizations were based on early drafts so there's all kinds of stuff that didn't make the cut.

Is there footage of this or just a photo

I don’t think there’s been any footage of it released.

If you listen to that CD, you'll also hear dialogue that was changed

That is one big ass explosion.

There is a scene in KotCS that still bothers me: why does Indy help the soviets find the alien in hanger 51? Just because Irina tells him? I read the answer somewhere, and it's quite logical: she threatens to kill Mac if Indy doesn't help.
