50% Tomatometer 10 Reviews 69% Audience Score Fewer than 50 Ratings "HouseBroken" is an animated series that takes an irreverent look at human behavior through the lens of animals. The animals' search for meaning often leads them on wild adventures, far away from the cushy confines of domestic pet life. Honey, a standard poodle, leads the group, encouraging them to confront their issues. The animals include Shel, a sex-positive tortoise with intimacy issues and a knack for choosing unconventional partners; Tabitha, an aging Persian cat beauty queen who is trying to adjust to life off the cat show circuit; The Gray One, a street smart cat who lives with about 30 other cats and has his one eye on Tabitha; Chico, a chonky, co-dependent cat who is in an unhealthy relationship with his neglectful owner; Diablo, a sweater-wearing, anxious terrier with OCD tendencies; Max, a social-climbing Hollywood pig formerly owned by George Clooney; and Chief, a dopey St. Bernard who lives with Honey and enjoys tormenting squirrels and licking himself. Critics Consensus

Housebroken boasts an insanely talented voice cast - if only its basic writing would learn some new narrative tricks.

Dan Fienberg Hollywood Reporter I liked the pilot and the fourth screener, a late-season episode incorporating a parlor murder mystery, significantly more than the middle screeners. Jun 1, 2021 Full Review Ben Travers indieWire Maybe that's a bit too dismissive, but pooping and vomiting and other bodily functions override any thoughtful analogies within the plots, and it's easy to be turned off by the comedy altogether. Rated: C+ Jun 1, 2021 Full Review Caroline Framke Variety All the above act about the way you'd expect, but these actors are sharp enough to make the characterizations more three-dimensional than first meets the eye. Jun 1, 2021 Full Review Angelica Guarino Common Sense Media The elements for a successful show are here in theory, but the overwhelming feeling is that there's nothing enthralling enough to keep viewers coming back for more. Rated: 2/5 Jun 21, 2021 Full Review Dustin Rowles Pajiba There's a lot of great voice talent here, and were that enough for a show to succeed, Housebroken would be an all-timer. Alas, often the most compelling part of the series is trying to suss out who the voice actors are without looking them up. Jun 7, 2021 Full Review Joel Keller Decider There's enough character potential in HouseBroken that gives us hope the show can find some funnier situations once it gets its comedic rhythm going. Tom S Astoundingly not funny. Must have taken some real effort to do that. Characters sound like they are reading their unfunny lines (which they are). Painful. Rated 0.5 out of 5 stars 12/08/23 Full Review Madd J I love this show! I rated this on my Likewise app and placed it in my Addictive Adult Animation list. It's honestly an incredible series. I think it's highly underrated and hasn't received enough attention. I'm hoping more people will decide to give it a try because it's definitely worth it. I like that it is audience diverse. While it is technically an adult animated comedy, it also can be enjoyed by younger people and is fairly safe. Depending on the parents I suppose. It does have some very light raunch/morbidity but it's just a drizzle, and probably nothing many children haven't watched already, with or without your knowledge lol. That's actually what I respect about it. It doesn't rely on vulgarity, violence and sex to make an impact. What is exciting about it is it's sort of like the actual secret life of our pets. It's adorable and so very funny! The characters (pets) are based on the producers' and I think some of the actors' pets. They're all very likeable characters, and the voices fit so perfectly. I would recommend everyone at least give this show a chance. I personally think it's worth it! And I'm so glad I was one of the few who gave it a shot. It's not a matter of dislikeness, it's more a matter of not enough public attention. I think if it went viral on TikTok or something it would draw people to try it. Most don't even know it exists. I am hoping in time more people will be aware of its existence and I think once that happens it will be a very popular show. I'm trying to promote it as much as possible so a third and fourth season are all the more likely lol. I just love it. Rated 5 out of 5 stars 07/20/23 Full Review Kirsten W This show is 100% worth the watch for fans of Bento Box. Unparalleled voice cast, loveable animation style, and lots of laughs. Cancelation has yet to be announced, and I am sincerely hoping for more seasons. Can only blame the low fan base on Fox's advertising priorities, because fans of Bento Box favorites such as Bob's Burgers and The Great North are sure to love this humor. Hulu just needs to throw a little love to their advertising budget for this show, because anyone who watches it is sure to be a new fan. Rated 5 out of 5 stars 07/05/23 Full Review StephenPaul C LOL, the funniest 11 episodes ever!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Rated 5 out of 5 stars 06/27/23 Full Review Victoria D love this show, it's funny, and quirky and relatable. I love the voice actors, I love Lisa Kudrow, she's amazing in every thing she does. All the characters have loads of potential. I'm very interested in their stories. Rated 5 out of 5 stars 06/26/23 Full Review Scott H This show is just plain stupid, especially compared to the rest of the Sunday night line up. I just watch something else.
