How do I play multiplayer on Java Edition?
Basically me and one of my friends were trying to play java edition multiplayer and neither of us actually new how to do it. We look up a video and turns out its super complicated. We try going through all the steps and in the end nothing seems to work. Does anyone have a simple way of explaining how to do this or can anyone link me to a video that shows how to do this? Thank you in advance.
Easiest way is a LAN Party, otherwise it's an online server or setting up a realm
Thank you! I'll try to set up an online server and Happy Holidays!
Same to you!
Whats a LAN party?
You and your friends are all connected to the save wifi/ethernet connection (so most likely you're in the same house)
Oohhh ok 👌
Are you new to minecraft? Not being mean, just asking if you have experience. You can play with your friend on a server, which is hosted by many third parties. You can find ones you like by looking on google. If you want to play with your friend in a private world, you’ve got a few options.
You can purchase a realm from the minecraft website. A realm is a server hosted by minecraft that is accessible 24/7. It has three world slots and a mini game server. It’s about 8 bucks a month but you can get a 30 day free trial if you’re looking for a quick, temporary solution. You can port in and export worlds.
You can purchase a server from a third party. This is similar to realms, but through outside sources. There are sites that host servers for you that can be found at various prices depending on your needs. In my experience, you have to pay a pretty penny for good performance.
You can create your own server. I am not experienced in this, but my friends are. You can download resources to construct your own server that can be hosted on your computer. This is very technical.
Finally, you can use LogMeIn Hamachi to play on a LAN world as if you and your friend were in the same building, using the same wifi network. Just download the program, start it up, make a room, tell your friend to join, and make a survival world and open it to LAN. There are sometimes some issues with this method but it was a staple in my earlier minecraft days.
Hope this helps! Cheers
Thank you for the response! I'm pretty experienced with Minecraft, but I usually just play solo worlds or try to do minigames with friends on servers like Hypixel. I will try using Hamachi to make a lan server. Thank you so much for the help and Happy Holidays!
