We attended a wedding at this magical place! I live in a neighboring town and can’t believe I had never heard of it. The food was amazing and the staff was super attentive and kind. It was truly a fairy tale wedding!

My husband and I booked the castle for our recent 45th wedding anniversary, on another couple's recommendation. We thought we would like it, based on what we saw and heard before we arrived. But, we loved it after we arrived! Smithmore is spacious enough to host a large gathering, yet small enough to feel intimate. We felt pampered but not rushed or forced. Benjamin and Jessie have an easy manner, and are happy to converse with guests. The food was excellent, and the accommodations were stellar. As with any great trip, you can do as much, or as little as you want. We took a trip down the mountain and visited the local town, we experienced a very flavorful set of specialty coffees, at the castle, and at night, we sipped Prosecco and watched fireworks from our balcony. Candy, flowers and a welcoming fireplace rounded out our beautiful weekend. It was a trip that will be in our fond memories for years to come!

Don't let the review about not having Valet or Maid service fool you. This place has and does everything. They have a bunch of activities on the property from Archery, Fire Pit, Cave Tours, Cooking Classes, Etiquette Classes, Wine Tasting, Coffee Tasting, Spa Services and more. Yes, sure you can bring a book OR you could book activities, or enjoy the 4,000 foot views or the 5 star food prepared by their renowned chef. This place is hands down amazing. Go read their Google Reviews. Lastly, no duh they have stink bugs at times, the Castle is located in 2 forests! What do you expect. Man, these city people are something else. Anyway, if you actually search Smithmore, you will notice that it's America's ONLY 5 Star Castle Hotel. I would give it 10 Stars if I could.

We recently stayed at the Smithmore castle for my sisters wedding! This castle is so charming! Chef Benjamin and his staff were so amazing! Every detail was considered to make our stay perfect! The food was incredible, the rooms were decorated put together so well and were very comfortable! The views were spectacular, and the feeling of being on top of the mountain in the clouds was great! Our stay was incredible from start to finish!
Would HIGHLY recommend checking this gem out!

We travel often and love to experience one of a kind locations. I must say that we have never been treated so well anywhere. Truly a unique time at the Smithmore Castle. We enjoyed spectacular views in a wonderful atmosphere while dining on the best food ever! Stayed busy with their many choices of activities. Also, there are major cities nearby with lots to do. Highly recommend and will be back! Thank you Chef Ben and Jess.

Smithmore Castle was in many ways a spectacular business trip for me and my group. I am President if a national business group and this year it was my responsibility to find a five star rated hotel which offered activities. I came across Smithmore Castle and let me tell you I was not disappointed. The food is out of this world and their attention to detail is remarkable. If I can write them more than five stars I would. Being from the mountains myself I did not mind the wildlife and local and natural insects. After all, the castle is located in the middle of two forests and surrounded by hundreds and hundreds of acres. Our group opted in for teambuilding exercises and did things like hiking to the caves and archery. I highly recommend getting a tour guide like we did. Our guide was very knowledgeable and knew the terrain well. He also carried a machete and a gun ha ha there are bears so I’m glad he did.
Yes the castle is pricey but you get what you pay for. They are the Rolls-Royce of the hospitality industry. So suck it up and if you could swing it I highly recommend you book as soon as possible.
Oh and the Castle dog has quite a beast! Must meet him!

Had a fun girls trip at Smithmore Castle where we all felt like Queens. Smithmore Castle offers numerous activities such as massages, guided hiking tours, archery, tea time, fire pit with s’mores, picnics, cooking classes, & even wine tasting. My friends and I did massages which was by far the best massage I’ve ever received. Ask for Richie, he’s very knowledgeable & pleasant. The views are spectacular and eating breakfast on the balcony was very special. Chase (Tour Guide) was super helpful & knowledgeable when taking us to the caves. The caves are so beautiful & peaceful. There are plenty of amenities you can book such as valet, bellboy service, room service, concierge, personal bartender, toiletries, laundry service, etc.. it’s so nice because you can customize your stay just the way you want. Can’t wait to return!!

Celebrated our 20th wedding anniversary there 4/15 - 4/17/22. The Castle is beautiful as well as the grounds, and the gourmet food was delish. If you stay there, make sure to bring a book, a game, or your computer as there very little to do once you are there. You can explore a cave, but there are bears in the area or hire a tour guide to escort you at 25/hour. We tried to explore the "downtown area" but most of the businesses are closed and boarded up. There are one or two antique places there.
Our stay was expensive so I was surprised that there was no valet or bellhop to take our bags, there is no room/maid service to make the bed or turn down the bed each day. And unfortunately, our room (and the castle) was filled with stink bugs and ladybugs coming out of hibernation. Which we were told about after we were already there, not before. Im not afraid of stinkbugs, but they landed on me while I was in bed....gave me the willies!
