Fox Sports Brazil report that Arsenal have sent their medical staff to the country in preparation for the potential transfer of the winger.

A couple of other journalists have stated the same thing, with Farid Germano and Darci Filho posting tweets on the subject, but it’s hard to say whether they’re reliable sources.

It seems a bit strange that Arsenal would send their medical team to Brazil, though it could have something to do with the fact the Brazilian season is currently in progress. Travelling to the UK and back would be very disruptive if a move wasn’t completed.

Then again, it would be rare for Arsenal to hold medical tests without confirmation that a deal was done. Perhaps they could be planning to test Everton then fly up with him to the USA to join the tour, but that’s very wishful thinking.

Another Brazilian journalist, Eduardo Gabardo, reports that Arsenal are indeed trying to sign Everton, but Gremio are officially claiming that no formal bids have been placed.

Globoesporte reported earlier this week that new technical director Edu Gaspar had made contact with Everton’s representatives, and Arsenal were considering submitting a bid for the winger. UOL also confirmed Arsenal’s interest.

As for Everton himself, he told the media: “I have an offer. I can’t speak to the club. I can’t guarantee I’ll play on Wednesday against Bahia, let’s see.”
