Holmgren Pedersen Feyenoord’s new right back

Feyenoord have secured the services of Marcus Holmgren Pedersen ahead of the new season. The Norwegian right back, the club’s second preseason signing, joins on a five-year deal from Molde FK.

Marcus Holmgren Pedersen made his first-team debut for Tromsø aged 18 after graduating from the club’s youth academy. He moved on after two seasons in 2020, signing for Molde FK. He made 36 appearances for the club, which currently occupies second place in the Norwegian Eliteserien, including 10 in the UEFA Europa League and three in the preliminary rounds of the UEFA Champions League. As a youth international he also represented Norway at the 2019 UEFA European Under-19 Championship.

Feyenoord technical director Frank Arnesen is delighted to welcome Holmgren Pedersen to the club. ‘Marcus signing means we again have enough cover in the right back position. He is a talented boy who has already played European football at his age. That’s important because we have to get to work on that stage very soon. As well as his defensive qualities he’s also involved in the game in various ways as an attacking defender. We are confident that he will take the next steps in his development here at Feyenoord.’

The player himself says he’s looking forward to his new challenge. ‘Feyenoord is the ideal club for me to develop further. The new adventure I was looking for. I am fairly familiar with the Dutch league and the way many teams play too. I’m hugely looking forward to meeting my teammates, the staff and, of course, the fans. And, more than anything, experiencing the atmosphere in De Kuip when it’s full.’

Marcus Holmgren Pedersen, who played for Molde in the Eliteserien earlier this week, will arrive at the club at the beginning of July.
