Biography

BREAKDOWN:  Graduate student DJ Rodman is a 6-6, 225-pound forward who is a tough defender and top-notch three-point shooter.  The graduate student spent his undergraduate seasons at Washington State, earning a degree in Communications.

BEFORE USC: Rodman played four seasons for the Washington State Cougars, appearing in 111 games and making 42 starts with an average of 5.5 points and 4.0 rebounds per game.  He has three double-doubles, the last being 10 points and 11 rebounds vs. California March 8, 2023.  He also has five career games with 10 or more rebounds. 

2022-23: Rodman averaged 9.6 points and 5.8 rebounds in 31 games (30 starts).  He was especially tough down the stretch, averaging 11.4 points, 6.1 rebounds and made 45.8 percent of his three-pointers in the Cougars final 19 games.  He was second on the team in rebounds (180) and made 38.1 percent of his three-point attempts (51-for-134), which ranked ninth among Pac-12 players.  In conference games, Rodman made 42.5 percent of his shots from beyond the arc, second among Pac-12 players.  He also made 79.2 percent of his free throws (61-for-77) during the season.  Rodman scored in double figures 12 times and made 3 or more three-pointers in nine games. He scored a career-high 23 points vs. Eastern Washington in an NIT game on March 14, 2023.  His career high in rebounds is 14 which he accomplished vs. Boise State on Nov. 12, 2022.    

2021-22: He averaged 4.2 points and 4.1 rebounds per game in 35 contests.  He scored a then-career-high 21 points and had 10 rebounds vs. Northern Colorado on Dec. 18, 2021 for his first career double-double...he made a career-best 6 three-pointers in the game.

2020-21: He was slowed by an injury as a sophomore, but place in 19 games (10 starts) and averaged 6.1 points and 3.7 rebounds.  He made 41.1 percent of his three-point attempts (23-for-56). Scored a season-high 14 points and made 4 three-pointers at Oregon State on Feb. 6. 

2019-20: Played in 26 games and averaged 1.7 points and 1.9 rebounds per game.  Made his collegiate debut at home vs. Seattle in the Nov. 7 season opener and scored five points.  His first career Pac-12 game was vs. USC on Jan. 2 and he scored 3 points and grabbed 2 rebounds.  Scored a season-high 8 points and a late the 3-pointer which point WSU ahead for good in the upset of No. 8 Oregon.

HIGH SCHOOL: Rodman graduated from JSerra Catholic School in 2019.  As a senior, he averaged 24.2 points, 8.9 rebounds and 1.2 assists per game.  As a junior, he averaged 16.1 points and 6.1 rebounds per game.  Rodman was a two-time Trinity League honoree, named first-team as a senior and second-team as a junior.  He played his first two high school seasons at Corona Del Mar High in Newport Beach, Calif.  As a sophomore, he averaged 20.2 points and 6.5 rebounds and led CDM to the Pacific Coast League title and the CIF-SS 1-A quarterfinals.

PERSONAL: Born Dennis Thayne Rodman, Jr. on April 25, 2001...His mother is Michelle Rodman and his father is Dennis Rodman…he has a younger sister Trinity and older sister Teyana…Trinity spent the fall of 2020 with the WSU soccer team before being selected as the No. 2 pick in the NWSL Draft by the Washington Spirit...she is a member of the USWNT and played in the 2023 Women’s World Cup...His father Dennis Rodman was selected in the second round of the 1986 NBA Draft and went on to win five NBA Championships with the Detroit Pistons and Chicago Bulls and was a two-time NBA All-Star…DJ is working on a Master’s in Digital Media Management at USC.
