Accommodation for a Family of Three

Hi All

My husband, three year old and I are travelling to Japan for two weeks in August. We plan on going to Osaka and Tokyo. When we usally stay in hotels we normally book a twin room (with two double/queen beds) or a room with a queen/king sized bed.

However, when looking at accomodation in Japan I have noticed that the bed sizes are a double bed or two single beds for a twin room. I fear that these options will be too small for the three of us.

Does anyone have advice on accomodation/bed sizes in Japan that would work for two adults and a three year old?

There are many hotels with 3 bed triple rooms . It's not that common to find 2 double beds.
