Polarized Sunglasses as PPE/Rescue Equipment?

Question

My city (waterfront/outdoor pools) does not explicitly require sunglasses, and guards who wear them bring their own. This leads to, in my experience, some guards either wearing super cheap, non-polarized/fashion ones, or in some cases not at all. In my opinion, sunglasses should be provided (if not required) both as PPE, and as rescue equipment in that they immensely improve lifeguard vision.

Does anyone here work for someone who provides/requires sunglasses?
