The Boswell Sisters, Vol. 6 - IMPROVED SOUND
- Topics
- Boswell Sisters, Boswell, Connee Boswell, jazz vocal, 1930s music
Mostly Connee Boswell solo during the period from June 1936 to April 1956, including six duets with Bing Crosby. Crosby only made two recordings with the sisters—the George White’s Scandals medley and “Lawd, You Made the Night Too Long”—because he couldn’t sing the sisters’ intricate arrangements. Also included is the extended interview that Connee and Vet gave to Richard Lamparski in 1965. All of these have been cleaned up and re-equalized to the best of my ability. I used the Boswells’ film soundtracks as a model for all of their recordings as I believe that film sound was generally far superior in dynamic range and more realistic than phonograph records, which were engineered to be dull and tubby because the steel and cactus needles of that time, and the phonographs they were played on, made the sound much brighter.
Here is the general list of what is on this upload. For complete discographical details, please consult the Boswell Sisters’ discography at http://guymcafee.com/:
